    Hi All

Thought I had best pop on here and let you know what is happening and to dispel any rumours that quite often appear on the net.

It gives me great pleasure to be able to confirm that we have agreed to purchase the Heritage 3cig 1498 "Farringford", it will be a most welcome addition to our railway here at Ongar, and we eagerly await its arrival at our North Weald Station landing/loading bay.

We have to rule out ANY suggestion that it is going to be coupled with 1111 (205205) Thumper (rolls eyes, anyone would think they don't like it… a Thumper doing 5 coaches up a 1 in 60!!). It is out intention that it will be used as hauled coaching stock. 37029 is NOT fitted with push pull, and (while it's a different matter if you only have a few yards of track) it would be illegal to push the 3CIG for 3+ miles without a proper push-pull communication / controls!

(Guess it means more work for me and my team!! all/any help offered will be received with open arms!!).

It looks in very good nick, and congratulations for securing it's future at the EOR. I assume you are on the market for finding a locomotive to haul this?

As the CIG is going to be used as hauled stock, have the traction motors been removed? isnt the brighton belle group looking for traction motors? to my way of thinking it would make sence to replace the motor bogies with an unpowered set and sell these on,

The BB project already have one CIG unit plus plenty of components, so its hard to see who'd want them. As removing the weighty TM's will have an effect on the bogies they may as well be left on.

No I do not currently volunteer
I am pleased to hear that 1498 "Green Slammer" has finally found a NEW home & isn't going anywhere else!!

As I used to travel on this unit on the Lymington Branch...

When 1497 + 1498 were working the line!

Plus I think these units are just "FANTASTIC" anyhow - Superb EMUs & Never should of finished with SWT!!
