Not out for this one as unlikely to be anywhere near enough light south of Tamworth, be that the 'joys' of photting mid December...

Merry Xmas to all involved with Vintage and hoping 2011 is something similar to this one.

Excellent location Stuart, there's a lovely contrast here. Out of interest is this at a foot crossing?

Well taken,Stuart. What a change from the usual landscapes and rolling hills.
Capturing it in a town landscape is far interesting and adds to the composition.Shows off also the unique style of the GWR locomotion of the period.A picture that comes along once in a lifetime.

    Your Hired...!

Hey thanks very much for your kind comments, they're much appreciated. :yo:

It's an interesting location and as we don't see those peculiar GWR locos oop north very often I thought I'd give it a try, I even gave "Sir Nige" a miss!
It's not a foot crossing Michael, the land (public) drops away steeply from the tubular fencing that you can see so it's a precarious balancing act on a ledge about a foot wide.

Not a place I'd recommend if you've got a bad chest though!

StUart - BIG thank-you for that shot.

Thanks for turning out on such a bitter day.

The cold throws up all kinds of additional challenges.

We had frozen everything (water, gas, things that normally flush, etc.) but we got there and back in the end!

Thanks again to all who venture out in the elements to cheer us on.

    Ben

I sometimes question my own sanity when standing in sub zero temperatures for "one" shot but this lad is something else.
    Den Anhang 2099 ansehen
He lives in Burnley and he'd travelled by train with his bike to Knottingley and then cycled to Brotherton. When he realised there was only room for one on the ledge he proceeded
to climb about 15 metres up a tree behind me to get a photo.

After this he was going to Doncaster mpd!!!

This isn't some sort of cover story for branching out into wild life photography is it?
