Hello tilling,

The locos and tenders are on Maffeis, which are 'trailers' that will be rolled directly off the ship via ramps. That is how they were loaded in Izmir, and also how 4079 was transported from Australia to Portbury docks - so hopefully it'll be a straight-forward unloading process.
The ship should dock in berth 3. Apart from that, I cannot help any further.

The ship is due to sail again at 1am on Tuesday, I believe, so they won't hang about unloading the ship of the 8Fs, and all of her other cargo...

The current picture is about 18 months old, I have the date somewhere in work. Worked it out from the ships in Avonmouth/Portbury with the aid of our database.

Both 8f's have arrived and are sat on Berth 2 waiting offloading from the mafi's.

Regarding the Yankie/USA tanks I attach a link to a photo of an allegedly Porter built example at Benxi steelworks in China seen in 1986. They had other locos of what they designated as 'XK2' class although it is said some might be Chinese copies [they are good at that!]. I have other photos of these locos as yet not uploaded.

I was lucky enough to see trough the last ages of steam in Turkey with very memorial days. Pity tough, a new generation is at rise with no idea what a steamer is/or looks like. We were a unique country which hosted steamers from all around the world; The USATC Baldwins,Skyliners ,the UK Beyer-peacocks,Stephensons, Sharp Stewarts, the French Batignolles, the German Kriegsloks,the Swedish Nohab's.....and the list goes on and on.

Well....., today,we only have two Kriegs in working condition.Sad to say, but this unfortunately shows our tendency as a nation in preserving our national heritage.

TCDD ? ...a hopeless case, busy torching one of the last exquisite unique remnants of the past; the Haydarpascha station!.....soon to become a hotel complex.:censored:

Thanks to an entrepreneur, who has bought and salvaged the last remaining steamers left to rust from all around the country from TCDD and founded the "Camlik Steam Museum".......said to be Europe's largest open air museum.....which doesn't help much actually does it?.....they are still rusting...day by day. But the bright side is, at least I took my kid there and he now knows what a steamer looks like.....and at least they were saved of being scrap and recycled back to us as razor blades!

So believe it or not, when we all heard that the two 8F's were being repatriated...we were all quite happy for them...at least we know they are in good hands now. The saddest point that really flipped our heads was; the wording that was written with a piece of chalk on one of the 8F's tenders; "KESILMIYECEK", a one and one translation is; "It is not to be cut". Which obviously is because they were sold....but does this mean the rest is going to be...? So if I were you guys I would hurry up while the others are still there.
