67020 was on the box on the back

Saw her at Victoria in the evening looking immaculate as ever. Really glad the problems of the last few months have been sorted and she is back where seh belongs on the mainline!

Some guy on the platform asked me if the VSOE was the train for Bromley South - passengers constantly amaze me!

Thanks for posting all those videos and photos - doesn't she sound fantastic? I seem to recall reading somewhere that the VSOE is the heaviest regular passenger train in the UK after the Eurostar. 'Southern Express' (the MNLPS newsletter) is a great read too!

They must walk round with their eyes and ears closed.
Asked at York as we had just arrived with 44871 on the front, Doncaster train mate?.
Then a young lady asked me, was that actually a steam engine on the front, she was visiting from Ireland and had never seen one before!! Off she rushed to get some pictures...

On countless times when I've been firing I've been asked if it runs on real coal or if there's a secret diesel generator in the tender etc etc. Always quite amusing to hear these observations and questions.

Could be that there is so much mainline steam about that the travelling public just wishing to go from A to B do not distinguish between and HST and a steam hauled train. We could be back in the 60's. Well not quite but we can dream!

Picked up passengers from a cancelled service on the way back from Salisbury a few years back behind 60009. Hardly any I spoke to had even noticed the loco, Why should they, it's a train isn't it.

I remember the trip a couple of my mates were filming 60009 at Salisbury and got a lift back to Woking

as the London bound unit failed.

They were telling me about passengers walking around like Zombies with earplugs & mobile phones

attached to there ears, to them it was just another train.

Looking at some of my own footage over the years passengers either get over excited, generally

interestested or carry on reading there books when a steam railtour arrives.
