The 2011 VT tours have just gone on the website when I checked this evening. The Settle and Carlisle trip with 6201 looks like very good value at only 79 pounds for standard, and there's a fair amount of double-headed tours as well.

Yep. It's up! Thanks to all who spent a lot of time working on it.

Anyone noticed 5043 "Earl of Mount Edcumbe" from New St to Euston yet?

lots of bookings Monday morning please!

I'll definitely be booking for The Coronation Express, and hopefully a couple of others too. Can't afford two in two weeks, but the weekend before maybe I'll chase The Settle And Carlisle trip around and then take in the ELR or the KWVR. Need to get planning!

Also I see that on the 9th April, when 6201 runs through Loughborough, the Great Central have a "mini steam gala". So that could be three weekends in a row where my itinerary is determined by Vintage Trains trips!

Well done to VT for another excellent and imaginative programme.

Most certainly does. That may be tempting to book on it!

Issue 251 of the Railway Herald states that: -

"reports that Princess Royal 6201 Princess Elizabeth will be attending the gala are very much wide of the mark...provisionally charted for two railtours from Tyseley in late March and early April"

I think steam dreams have also got 70000 booked for a Bath and Bristol trip no the 27th March as well, so not looking good for the WSR gala at the moment... :eek:hwell:

I can confirm that Lizzie is running the Shapp, Settle & Carlsle trip for VT on March 26th.

I am not sure about the WSR gala; maybe Lizzie is going up there for the first weekend only?

I am sure that Tyseley has a few things they would like to do with me! Including a dip in the pit!

The tours are selling very well - especially Lizzie over Shap!

The brochure mailout is this weekend, so in a few weeks we should start to see some of these tours selling out.

Glad business is good, could be a tough year this one with a lot of competition & the economic circumstances. Would love to put some £ your way but circumstances dictate otherwise at the moment, hopefully our situation will improve later in the year & we will join you on one or two then!

We are very lucky to have so many loyal customers. We thank y'all.

If anyone is interested in dining on Lizzie over Shap / S&C or The Collett Double, I wouldn't hang around too long. We are running short of seats rather quickly.

    Happy touring in 2011!

All done before the day I'm afraid. If you want to view itinerant brass polishers you'll have to pick another GW engine, there are one or two that fit the bill.

    What above a non-stop Cheltenham Flyer ?

Either later this year or next year to commemorate either the 80th anniversary of one of the following runs :

On 15th September 1931, no.5000 "Launceston Castle", driver Jim Street and fireman Fred Shearer took the World Record covering 77.25 miles at an average speed of 79.5mph, in 58 minutes 28 seconds, with a top speed of 90mph.

On 6th June 1932, no.5006 "Tregenna Castle", driver Ruddock and fireman Thorp made the fastest official run, covering the 77.25 miles at an average of 81.7mph, in 56 minutes and 47 seconds, with a top speed of 91.4mph
