    Hi,
Just wondering whatever happened to Battle of Britain Class locomotive #34076. Also, does anyone know where the nameplate and crest are now?
    Cheers

    Hi,
I can't be sure but I suspect at least one set will be with 41 Squadron RAF. AFAIK all operational squadrons received the nameplates and crests when the loco was withdrawn, 92 Squadron certainly did so I can't honestly see 41 Squadron being any different.

According to the Bulleid Society website, 34076 was withdrawn 1/1966 (Mileage 803,425) , scrapped John Cashmore, Newport 11/1966

AFIAK 41 Sqdn is no longer operational and hasn't been since around 2003-4 when the Jaguars were withdrawn. I would imagine the nameplate is either in the RAF Museum collection or with the 41 Sqdn Assn, but I don't actually know.

    Regards

41 is most definitely operational. After being disbanded as a Jaguar unit, it was reformed when the Fast Jet and Weapons Operational Evaluation Unit (FJWOEU) was given the 41 Squadron numberplate in 2004. It served as the OEU for Harrier GR7/GR9, Jaguar, Tornado F3 and Tornado GR4. With the rundown of the Tornado F3 fleet, the withdrawal of the Jaguar and more recently the Harrier, it currently flies the Tornado GR4.

A bit out of date then.
To establish the current situation regarding the nameplates I suggest the OP writes to The Officer Commanding 41 Squadron RAF, RAF Coningsby, Lincoln LN4 4SY.

There is a web forum for 41 squadron (here) - mentions the info that Coltishall may be reopening as a centre for airliner recycling!

That was on the BBC local news earlier this week. Fly B737s in, take out anything useful then cut them up.
