I've created a set in my Flickr site of shots that are not mainstream train shots.
I find it most satisfying to try to get shots that are a little bit different.

    See what you think.

I tried a blurring shot at Rawtenstall, ELR late yesterday in the fading light. The photo isn't a classic, but I noticed something that I thought was interesting.
As the carriages passed, one was a "blood and custard" and the next was maroon. The blurring seems to show a remarkable smooth merging from b&c to marron.
I'll remember that and might use the idea to merge something else sometime.
    See what you think.

Flickr is a great way to get your photos noticed and a great way to share them too

I like that. At the risk of using EVERY generic 'arty' phrase, a good composition, with enough, but not too much, detail. Only slight criticism would be the the background clutter on the far-right, but not much you could do about that .

I took this shot at Ramsbottom on 9th January:
    http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=351034&nseq=1

While waiting for 44871 to arrive, I took this one.
    http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=351389

It seems to have taken off. It was given a People's Choice Award on RailPictures.net and has now had nearly 4.600 views. It's now my 4th most popular shot out of 860 I have on that site.

Not bad for an American site with viewers from all round the world. It would be nice if it encouraged a few of them to come and visit us here.

They're interesting shots of motion (particularly to the engineer) but what's the particular theme? Is it workshop orientated, ex-works engine, or something else?
