Well, I didn't win the lottery last night (otherwise 2859 might have been joining 2807!) but this is the next best thing! It's been a bit of a rollercoaster 12 months and it is marvellous to see that the "old lady" commands so much support. Thanks to all who voted for 2807!

  3. In the offical press release it mentions 2807 visiting other railways before easter. Just out of interest which railways will it be visiting?

These listed below would be good:
    Nene Valley Railway
    Great Central Railway
    Here's hoping!
Then I would not have to travel quite so far to see 2807!

The needs of the GWSR comes first. 2807's home is here and we need to be doing what ever is required to get services up and running. keeping watching the GWSR website

Agreed. The Nene Valley website has a steam guest yet to be announced for the Mixed Traffic Gala coming up in April (Link here: http://www.nvr.org.uk/timetable/mt.php). It would be fantastic if 2807 was that guest.

Personally I'd much rather it went to NVR. The GC seems to have no contraints when it comes to getting engines in. The NVR seems to struggle that little bit more. Would make a nice change to get a big GWR engine to Wansford.

But equally hiring out 2807 to other lines could help to raise the GWSR's profile and encourage more donations prehaps (to the landslip fund that is)

Personally I hope it goes to the Nene Valley. The Great Central have no trouble getting guest engines in at will. The sight of a big GWR engine will not only be unusual on the NVR, but may just remind a lot of people where the railway is.

Interestingly enough there is a slight mention of a guest to be announced in they're Mixed Traction Gala coming up. Could it be 2807? Or am i just dreaming again?

It would be nice for another preserved railway to hold a GWSR-Aid Gala, perhaps with 2807 and another GWSR resident (7903? 92212?), with all profits given to the GWSR. The SVR is the nearest large line, and of course has the capacity to put on quite a show.

Thats a good idea. You often hear of railways sticking together in crisis like this. Just look at the amount of aid that was sent to SVR when they had they're problems. Its almost fitting that they are the closest 'big' railway in this instance. Although the GWSR did recieve a lot of aid from one railway, but they wouldn't say who.

Personally I'd much rather that should 2807 go on tour to raise funds that it stop by the Nene Valley. Buts that just personel preference! I've never seen a big GWR down there yet. It would be a good way to break the trend!

In reply to ALL the above posts, things are progressing well on two fronts. There will be some Big news coming very soon. We're ahead of a lot of you. . . .

    But it will be great.

    I'm excited all ready!
In reading the SVRA forum I believe there was some discussion about so kind of 'GWSR on tour' type gala.

    Hello all,

It has just been offically announced by the WSR PLC (according to the unoffical WSR website) that 2807 is to be a late addition to their spring gala line up which can only be good news for anyone in the west country who wants to see 2807.

  16. Does anyone have an image of No 2807 that can be used on WSR websites/promo material, please?

Update: already sorted! Many thanks folks

    Dear all,

Just seen on the GWSR website that after its visit to the WSR for their spring gala No:2807 will be traveling to the GCR for the Gr8 escape gala on 9-10th April in aid of the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway's landslip appeals. No:2807 will be starring alongside fellow GWSR resident No:45160. Also in action will be two 8Fs and 38xx No:3850!
Read the full article on the GWSR website.
