So, here is a tricky question for you; which, out of locomotives that are currently lying in sheds and yards on heritage lines around the country would YOU most like to return to steam? (it doesn't need to be realistic) New builds are not included!

Personally, I would like to see the National Railway Museum overhaul the Q1 0-6-0 as I feel it has an interesting story to tell about wartime Britain and also it is the only one of its class preserved. What do other think?

The SECR D class running with the C, H, O1 and P classes. Failing that the Adams Radial and 33001 would be great to have back in steam.

Taff Tank 28, the only surviving main-line engine built in Wales for use in Wales. Owned in its time by the TVR, GWR, Longmoor Military Railway, NCB, BR(WR) then the NRM. After that, William Francis

It would be nice to see 30928 Stowe running again and with any luck we could possible see all three V class locos together?

For sentimental reasons, would have to be Adams Radial 488 - the first steam engine I ever rode behind, more than 30 years ago.

But ultimately - Grand Junction Railway 2-2-2 "Columbine"; only 15 years younger than Stephenson's "Rocket", but seemingly a world away in modernity. Plus, the period from ca 1840 - 1870 is a period that is very poorly represented in preservation, relative to what went before and came after.

Another vote for Adams Radial 488 at the Bluebell, in black though please! On a serious note I think it is in the pipeline for a group to look at in the future, though I would imagine it is going to be many years before she steams again.

Cecil Raikes (Mersey Railway 0-6-4T), plus maybe one of the County Donegal 2-6-4Ts, but that is happening anyway.
