Unlike the other time table all three days are now different. All small GWR locos will work the inside loco on double heading.

Ps Don't forget this could all change again there's still five weekends to go?

Maybe it's about time we had 34007 Wadebridge facing the other way round (Smoke box out of Alresford) gets my vote.

Then we could have some real double headers with Wadebridge and the 9F or Wadebridge and the Standard 5...

Maybe Wadebridge will go out on a visit at some stage and come back the other way round, I'd be keen to charter it on the goods if it did.

Standard GWR Practice was to have the junior driver/loco coupled inside the train engine so the senior man had the control of the train.Something that the WSR do quite correctly on their Galas.
However It matters not to the traveling public who pay the fares which way round they are in most cases.
The working for all to enjoy will be the ex 1700 Alresford with the Dukedog and Truro . Also some nice workings with the Crane and Vans even if its a resident loco and not a visitor.
Lets hope for some good weather(I wont use the word sun)
There are also no pairings tender to tender etc with all double heading locos facing the same way so a lot of thought has gone into the roster with the changes enforced by the loco direction swap... So well done to those that sat down and worked this one out!

Finally ..... Please remember the note on the bottom of the Timetable this is even more relevant with the locos changing direction.
I know there will be those that choose to ignore this request Please dont...

Well that's just put a spanner in all the plans I had made on the original roster - where to be & what to ride behind etc.

Now it all seems a bit lop sided with only two engines facing Alresford - shame they cant turn one or two of the resident locos to provide a better balance on the photographic side.

Hey I'm not complaining - I'm still looking forward to it, it's certainly an intensive & varied timetable. The only question being - how many days to do 1,2, or 3?

So if We are getting this kind of gala for Spring, just what is in store for the Autumn one - the hint is Big engines, will we be seeing A Brit, A Duke or what? - Cant wait!

From what I have heard there might be a maroon loco for the autumn event......................And no it's not 5972!

Question is just how big a maroon loco, doubt it would be Lizzie, just a tad too big for the line perhaps?

Now if it's 6100 then there's every chance that I may even finally persuade my Old Man to get his backside down South as he's never been to the Mid Hants.

Hmm a possible Midland themed Gala with Malachite Green coaches............. Paint brush anyone.

I'd say Royal Scot given the MHR's relationship with Jeremy Hoskins. (and she's not far off from returning)

Hey why not get both & throw in Scots Guardsman for good measure!

That's the problem & it's usp - non authentic livery, just like Flying Scotsman in apple green - Hey maybe the MHR could stage a gala of non authentic liveried engines - Royal Scot, flying Scotsman, the red 8F at the GCR, resident Yankee tank(never carried BR black) & I'm sure there must be a few more out there.

And don't forget 9017 which now carries bright red Earl Of Berkeley nameplates. The cabside numberplates are also red which is absolutely authentic for BR black but as for the nameplates well let's just say thank goodness for Photoshop.

Well how about a DNS theamed Gala when 76017 returns then 9017, 3440.3205 and 92212 can run the service just keep the Std 4 off the goods workings just in case she tries to do another leap of faith as at Whitchurch!
Oh and 30120 can do a turn too ... Didcot Newbury and Southampton Railway for those that dont know . It shared a 3 way jct with the Mid Hants for a short time during the war at Winchester Jct.

Maybe we could also have 75079 running at the same gala. Being that she was an Eastleigh loco.

6024 has now been confirmed to attend the second weekend of the WSR Gala, which I guess now means that she will NOT be attending the MHR on 25 - 27 March as originally planned. Does anyone know why the change of plan?

It will be interesting to see what they can come up with as a replacement at such short notice.

If it isnt GWR then that kind of knackers the theme of the gala!

Could be she didn't pass the gauging for the route down to Alton.
