Just added to the Locomotive Roster page of the Watercress line website :

'The loco hauling the demonstration freight train on the 27th February is TBC. This will be announced by Friday 25th pm.'

    Who's taking bets for 31806?

if you look at the website the Midhants run the Freight set four or five times a year, plus they will usualy let it out on other special events and galas, the set usualy consists of various wagons and brake vans, i remember last year that it was shunted arround at each end to add variety for punters. i beleve that there is approx 18 waggons available to do the freight trains with more being added each year. its a real testiment to the waggon group at the midhants, the quallity of the restorations of the waggons is brilliant. it would be nice to see some other railways let their freight out on a more regular basis like this.

    Regards

i dont know about anyone else, but despite the weather i had a brilliant day photographing and recording the std 5 with the freight set of 16 waggons, the performances were fantastic and very well done, esspecially on the last trip into medstead and 4 marks station, special thanks must go to the crews on both the steam locos and the dmu, plus the waggon group and the midhants volunteers, thanks for a brilliant day welldone, cant wait for the steam gala :)

Here's mine in the gloomy light

Shame about the weather which promised so much in the morning. On the second run the 5 sounded like it was having a few issues on the departure from Ropley and the thunderstorm over head certainly added to the drama. Hung around for the last run of the 9F too but the DMU turned up - did something happen to the 9?

nice shot, im still waiting for mine to upload on to the comp, the timetable got behind, so when the freight left medstead for the last time, they then brought the 9f up whilst the dmu waited they did it to try and bring them selves back and it worked. still it was a brilliant day, the last trip with the std into medstead was brillinat essepcially for all who were there to see it, there were plenty of cameras pointing as it came up the bank. well done to the crews on the engines, the waggon group and the midhants volunteers, fantastic job well done to all involved, i personaly cant wait untill the steam gala
