The machine has got to be suitable for use somewhere in the U.K., be it on the FR/WHR or elsewhere, or otherwise it is likely to rust away just as effectively in this country as its present home.

Yes I am an active volunteer
There are, however, quite a few railways besides the WHR/FR!

If you want to support an example of a UK built exported loco I'm sure the people restoring the WD Hunslet 4-6-0 would happily have some support. Or the Kerr Stuart diesel which is at the FR. There are quite a few people out there who want everything imported and then once things arrive the attention and money gets divided up in to chunks so small very little progress is made.

I'd have a Lawley or Dick Kerr Petrol-Electric.

What loony came up with that one? Why not ask Mr Adrian Shooter very nicely if his B-class could visit your line? May I also point out, for those wishing to model in 12" to 1' scale, the B class has a 10 ton rear driving axle loading (same as Lyn) and is rather tall, 10 foot if I remember alright.

If those real-scale modellers want to produce something worthwhile, surely the Leek & Manifold 2-6-4Ts are the obvious choice.
