There was a picture posted elsewhere on here of it at Neil Boden's workshops so assume the overhaul has started on it.

Fair play to one of Britains perhaps lesser known lines putting on this event .

took my family last year and had a really lovely afternoon , trip on (6)1306 and afternoon tea in the Beavertail . Unexpectedly an absolute treat

Work on "Sir Gomer" is now reaching the final stages inside Shack loco works and we hope to have her in action at the gala, even if only on Station Pilot (TBC).

Those who cannot attend the gala can also expect action from 5542 on Sunday March 6th & 13th on service trains.

1306 is currently in bits at Washwood Heath, though the tender remains at Shackerstone.

I think there's a fair chance it will be either 3803 or 5542 and there's nothing like that element of surprise, is there? :)

Interesting. Are you sure about this, as MB doesn't feature on the timetable at all?

The bus route from Leicester is 153 (hourly on Sat, 2-hourly on Sun), and does indeed stop very close to Market Bosworth station, but this is the first I've heard of any road access to the station being available...

Their website says that the station IS NOT open to the public. This being the case, Pristine, please do not tempt people to go there and trespass unless you can produce evidence to the contrary.

If you now check the website you will see that Market Bosworth is on the timetable, it is now open to the public via the old goods yard and a new foot crossing over the railway. if the road to Station garage is followed and by bearing left along the side of the garage down the road to the goods shed there is ample car parking.

This weekend Market Bosworth station will be open all weekend for the first time for many years - Market Bosworth is accessible by bus from various destinations and the station is a 10 minute walk from the town square. There are seven trains each day operating over the line with the first train leaving Shackerstone at 10am and calling at Market Bosworth 10.12.
Thre is a large car park adjacent to the line at the station, turn off Station Road by the railway bridge past Station Garage into the old goods yard. Come and see us this weekend for Great Western steam action in the spring sunshine!

Excellent news! If this can be repeated for the diesel gala (and advertised in advance) you've just sold one extra ticket, and no doubt many more - having the line easily accessible to public transport should be an enormous boon!

Just checked on this site CLICK and it still says closed to public and it's not in the timetable. Where are you looking plse? I'd have thought MB reopening would have been a banner headline?

Just returned from a quick visit to the Battlfield Line and Market Bosworth station is quite DEFINATELY OPEN and looking good and well patronised in the very warm spring sunshine. You'd better visit tomorrow!

Good news then - we'll give it a go tomo hopefully. Suggest they get their website sorted out though - need to get a 'latest news' type headline up front. Iain
