Llangollen Spring Diesel Day - 26th March - with a visitor!

We are delighted to announce that Class 31 No 5580 (31162 in Decimal!) will be visiting the Llangollen Railway for a 21 month stay as guest locomotive, the first of the type to visit the Dee Valley. All being well, and subject to a B Exam due to take place this weekend, the loco will debut on the Railway as the star of our Spring diesel day on March 26th. New metal for the red pen fans!

The Diesel Day will also star resident machines D5310, 6940 and a DMU. Shunter shuttles may also be repeated.

Looking forward to seeing a BR Blue ped in North Wales and my local line. I haen't seen one in operation since 2002 when I rode behind D5600!

I am delighted to report 5580 was safely unloaded on to LR metals on Saturday. Photos are on our site and one below courtesy of "EE12C-SVT"



Although we have experienced some problems with 6940 over the last couple of weeks, repairs have been completed and we are hopeful the loco will work on Saturday, subject to a successful start and test run later this week once we have performed an oil change.

D5310 is availale for traffic and with bridge repairs at Carrog now complete, 08195 will work bespoke shunter shuttles at Llangollen.

We regret to announce that Class 37 6940 is highly unlikely to work tomorrow. We're extremely disappointed to let Folk down, but hope that 5580, D5310, the 104 and 08195 will still attract a few folk along to the Dee Valley tomorrow.

Our sincere apologies for the disappointment.
