A friend from Argentina has the good fortune to be able to take shots like this cab ride along some pretty grotty lines, or are they all like that?

I went to Argentina a few years ago but only travelled on local trains in Buenos Aires. The main station is very interesting and was British Designed and I think even built and shipped. Also at the docks their the cast iron ship morning had Cardiff casting marks. Hell of a long way to ship steel and cast iron.

Shedbasher, From what I can get from Babel fish translator, they are new or refurbished wagons on a metre gauge freight only line.

Lappinp, I was in Argentina a few years back on an RTC tour, but we didn't see any narrow gauge except the 2 foot one further south in Patagonia.
Even the track for the trams and underground in BA came from the UK.

I too went to Patagonia but didn't get to travel on the worlds most southerly railway as I preferred to go on other trips to walk with Penguins and see other wildlife. For those who haven't been, the railway is near Ushuaia which is the most southerly city in the world, whats interesting is thats its a apparently as far south from the equator as Belfast is north. Geography lesson now over ;-)
