THE CATHEDRALS EXPRESS 70000 Oxford-London-Canterbury Thu 7th April

Britannia's first mainline tour and it starts at a civilized time from my home-town! I've already told the boss that I'll be a little late getting to work that morning.

 

Looking forward to coming down from Worcester to get a shot of her.

 

Any body going on this trip from Oxford,if they are driving to the station dont forget to give plenty of time because the area around the statin is very very hectic from 08-00 too 09-30

 

The tickets came through thursday. Im on it from Oxford but catching a train north from Didcot.

 

It will be good to see her thundering up the GWR mainline!

Well, not my usual spots Matt, as I have my arm in a sling till the end of April after an op on my shoulder tendon :sick:. I'm therefore stuck with bus or train from Bracknell, so most likely I'll go to Reading or Twyford.

Wherever, let's hope for more of this lovely spring weather, see the sun shining off her new paintwork.

Anyone able to suggest any good locations between Oxford and Didcot? Looking to head out to see this if the weather works out! TIA

I shall be out to see this tomorrow. Couldn't afford to go on it as I had hoped. Still, it will be good to see 70000 in Black.

 

The boss is going out to photograph it too. I call that a good result!

 

What train will you be on to get there Matt?

 

I will be out for this, Canterbury and Sandling Junction are my 2 main locations for seeing her.

Through Twyford about 10.25, so about 10 mins down, cantering at a steady 40-50mph , looking splendid , no nameplates, , 12 on, mixed livery,. No diesel. Brilliant sunshine so good luck to her today. What a route !!

 

Just been told stopped at Acton for a drink.......(water)................

 

Passed Latchmere Junction (West London line, outside Clapham Junction) about 30 down at 11.58.

 

Saw it leaving Oxford - looked superb.
