Please, if you have any spare money then please consider donating what you can to keep her flying this year. Every little bit really does count. Thank you.

I must have been asleep for 48hrs and missed all this fun.

With a new base "up north" there will hopefully be more opportunities to see her glide thru the sky in 2011. There are of course many many deserving causes in the heritage movement, but as sweetktg says, "every little helps"

Tell me about it. I've been a club member for 4 years, have had a monthly standing order for 3 of those years, but anyway, what's important is that after several delays she's finally got a new & hopefully permanent home, at a place steeped in Vulcan history.

Having been brought up in Blackpool I've been surrounded by Heritage Trams, Trains (used to live at Steamtown I think) & Planes (Warton), and now that I live in Portsmouth, Ships! Way too much of our history has rotted away through lack of funding (the arts got it instead), which makes it even more important to keep what we've got left. I'll admit that for the past few years the majority of my donations have gone to Our Lady, however I have donated when I can to Steam, after all, I get pleasure out of watching & photographing steam so it's only right that I put something back.

At the moment she's not due to be, but you never know maybe this year will be the year that she finally gets there, although from what I gather there's something not right between Duxford & The Trust so don't get your hopes up too high. I could be wrong, that's just the feeling I've got from the club forum over the years.

Who'd have thought that in the space of just 5 years from first flight of the Lancaster, would the same designer start designing the Vulcan (and it only took 6 years from start of design to first flight unlike the 25 or so years for the Typhoon), followed by the Concorde engine tests just 15 or so years after that. Those were the days, when this country had an aviation industry!

Couldnt agree more what this country gave away is criminal and what bad management messed up the rest is the same .Motorcycles cars railways it just goes on and on
I am freinds with pathfinder squadron vets that flew out of Little Staughton in WW11 ,each year we meet up again at the local pub, on the Sunday ,church service and a flypast by the Lanc not a dry eye to be seen .They have a lot to say about british industries losses and its not good.

Full details (copied from VTST site) - please read carefully to avoid dissapointment:

XH558 will depart from Robin Hood Airport next week to undertake a training and crew display currency flight.

With the agreement and support of Robin Hood Airport, we can announce that this flight is scheduled for noon on Tuesday 26th April, with a fallback for weather and technical problems of the following day.

We would stress that XH558 will undertake a direct departure and will not perform any type of display at Doncaster. Arrangements are being made to accommodate the public as detailed below. We would ask anyone wishing to view uses the official facilities within the terminal building or a suitable vantage point outside the airfield, ensuring that no obstruction or nuisance occurs to the local community.

It is vital that we build and maintain good relationships with our landlords and neighbours, and so we ask you to bear this in mind if you decide to visit.
