    Hi,

I own SR 25t Pill Box Brake Van 55170, which is now close to being operational.
I am one brake block missing, but ideally would like to obtain at least three more, as two are quite thin.
I have enclosed a picture of the said block that I need.
The large hole, where the A frame ends go through is 2 inch in diameter.
The question I have is, does anybody know what ID these blocks have ie is it a BR XXXX or a SR XXXX, and also, does anyone have any that I may purchase?
    Any help gratefully appreciated.
    Many thanks,

    Andy.

It may be worth your while talking to RVEL. They do sell odd bits, and there is no minimum order. Talk to a guy called Andy Houghton. I think his contact details on the RVEL web site. If you cannot find them please send me a pm, and I will email them to you.
Another line of thought is, you may want to look at the composite brake block route. There is a company called Peter Briddon. They do spares for industrial rolling stock, so may be able to help you. Again there is no minimum order.
    http://www.petebriddon.co.uk/rail/p...ake-blocks/59-rolling-stock-applications.html
Otherwise it may be worth talking to one of the Southern preserverd railways [Bluebell Mid Hants etc] Hope you find what you need.

As it happens, the Dartmoor Railway Supporters' Association also owns a an SR 25 ton Pillbox brakevan, 55625, and it also has a brakeblock missing. May I ask where you obtained yours?

    many thanks

I would recommend changing the lot, it will make setting the brakes up easier.
