Couldn't see a thread for this, anyone travelling on it?

Hoping to visit Batemans Brewery in Wainfleet during the couple of hours available, though it won't be possible to do a brewery tour as the train arrives after the 2 30pm tour has started, but no doubt the museum might be worth a visit.

As a matter of interest how do they turn the loco there (Skegness)? It's years since I was there, but they had a turntable and a triangle then..............I was under the impression these had been lifted, obviously not.

The loco runs tender first from Sleaford to Skegness. The train runs via Spalding on the way out and Grantham on the return, so the loco does not need to be turned,

The turntable is now Tesco's car park and the triangle was lifted just after Charlie boy's Royal train was stabled on the spur to Firsby before he married Diana.

Saw Ollie this morning as it crossed the viaduct at Welwyn. Superb sight and sound as the loco accelerated its train away from Digswell Jct. For those who worry about such things, the Class 37 on the rear seemed as dead as a Dodo.

    Afternoon folks,
I saw the Jolly Fisherman as it headed north through St. Neots, a few mins down. The 37 on the back seemed to be running, but obviously was not providing ETH ;).
There was a driver (?) slumped against the window in the rearmost cab, seemingly having a nap.

Looks like the Class 37 (37676) is hauling the train back to Kings Cross tonight, as it has ran round to the front to join 70013 in Skegness carriage sidings.

Read elsewhere that there is an unspecified problem with 70013. If the report is true then the much despised, by some on here, Class 37 could prove to be a Godsend.

Train departed Skegness at 16:36, 15 late, with both the 37 and 70013 under power.

Cue 260 pages on why 70013 should have had a german built steel firebox fitted and not its british copper one repaired - eh?

37676+70013 were thru Grantham dead on time tonight @ 18:44, didn't seem to be much wrong with 70013 as the exhaust could be heard loud and clear once they were out on the main line south of the London Road overbridge.

    Thanks Christopher,

    :focus:

Hopefully there was nothing seriously wrong with 70013 and someone will post up what the problem was. Looking at post 23 from Oddsocks things seem to have been sorted out.

    Thanks, Neil.

Once again a thread has wanded off into the realms of diesels and steam hauled tours, so posts relating to that have been moved to a more appropriate place, no not the bin, much as I would like to, but the thread dedicated to that tiresome topic.
