Let's put it this way - some people chose to ignore the warning signs the other week & pitched their tents by the Dee bridge - He set fire to the tents while they were out !

I did notice the burning tent in the field near the Dee Bridge when I was on 80072 on the 20th March. If he can do that to campers, god knows what he'll do to railway photographers??

And did they inform the police I wonder? Anyway I think the answer is a very definite NO! Thanks for that.

I finally got round to booking the B&B last night and found that the rate per night has gone up to £45/night since last year. At first I was a little sniffy but finally had to bow to the market place, but I'm closer to the WLLR than the LR.

    Thanks for the reply.

    Regards

I suspect it will not be long before the police knock on his door.

You waited to long, I bagged my room only last week and got two nights for 70 pounds on the doorstep, secondly I had to find one that allows dogs, which is not easy.

Your're probably right, but I've grown to be wary of the claims that railways put up about their galas. I used to book a B&B very early usually as I paid my bill, but no more. There seems to be a trend of railways announcing visiters and then backing off when it is clear that the owners have a different view! Also the LR's use of a diesel at it's last ASG has developed a certain mistrust.

Personally I prefer not to stay in Llangollen, but I'm a bit too far away for this one.

    Regards

And very popular that was. The BR(W) class 14 fitted in perfectly to the GWR175 theme. There were no other complaints about the limited use of this loco at the event.

I'm off down tomorrow. Can anyone answer please if Llangollen accept Depit Cards? I can't remember, I think I have paid on card before but not sure.

'Foxcote Manor' is obvously o.k. as it has double headed one train & pulled another on its own this morning.

Some lovely shots there, Phil. We had a great day out yesterday, very relaxing which is exactly what I needed as I'm at work all weekend doing a big software upgrade. The timetable was challenging, with so may non-stop trains and others not stopping at Berwyn but it gave us the opportunity for more lineside photos from Berwyn. We finished back at Carrog and walked along the A5 for about 15 minutes and found a good spot to shoot the trains in the landscape. I'll upload my photos to flickr when I get some spare time but I get the feeling there'll be no shortage of pics from this event :)

It was the busiest Friday Llangollen gala I can remember (apart from the SSS extravaganzas), trains were busy (but uncomfortably so) right from the start and the sun had brought out a glut of lineside photographers too.

Went today and had a fantastic time - really wonderful gala ) Was slightly surprised that the trains weren't more packed, but nevertheless the combination of wonderful weather, friendly staff and volunteers and fantastically turned out engines travelling through the best landscape of any standard gauge line made it a brilliant day!
