Basically, this new build project is getting a re-build. A new management team and a new opportunity for members to get involved in running and working on building this locomotive. It now has a good foundation, thanks to PB, to be taken forward to completion.
Or it could mean that members decide they don't want to continue and all the work so far has been wasted!
It's all down to the EGM.

I hope this project doesn't fold, as its on my list for causes to support when I have funds (ie. £250, or I can afford to pay instalments to this amount) available. I'm only sorry I've been unable to donate thus far due to other financial commitments. We'll have to wait and see.

I am not advocating this as a course of action, but if the project is called to a halt nearly every component (the chimney perhaps being the exception) made or obtained could be used on a.n.other BR Standard so in the long run not a complete waste... just a great pity.

Although I am not directly involved with the project I think it would be a great shame for it to be abandoned now. I know at least one of the people currently at the helm and I see no reason why the project should not continue. Building upon the foundations created thusfar and the application of good husbandry, I feel the project can be a success and fill a gap in the history of steam traction.

I cant see a project stopping just because one person resigned! May just mean its run differently! Sure they wouldnt want people to think theyre are giving up!

Very gratifying to see the support since my last comment.
Those who have taken up the reigns until the EGM have no intention of letting the project die, however, it is up to the members to use their votes then, either in person or by proxy, to decide.
This is the springboard to greater things for this project.

Agree. With a few modifications to the original details in the light of the passage of time ,like they did to the Duke, I think this could be a cracking loco.

And even as original, I don't think they were too bad.

Although I currently can't support this project financially (2 other new builds currently have my financial support!) I do wish it the best of success. The Standard 6 is really the "missing man" given that even a Class 77xxx may be possible in future and, with so much work already done, it deserves to succeed. I never saw the Class 6s at work (they never strayed into my geographical area) but I would like to see one in future!

Sure that mike the Shop will be there with the usual goodies for sale.
Would urge anyone interested in this Project to Join now and have your say in it going forward rather than to just 'wait and see' what happens at the egm
Im sure that joining on the day will be entirely possible !
Feel free to PM me or Northern Steam if unsure

Quite correct. All who are interested in this project and its future are welcome. But especially members, who can have a vote and influence on the way forward.
I understand that a large number of proxy votes are already received. Come along and join on the day and be involved!
This meeting will be the turning point of the project.

Not quite Coboman, but getting close. If you check out the website you will see how much of the preliminary assembly work has been achieved in that time, and the myriad of small, and not so small, items obtained. This has always been a back burner project without much publicity or major support, despite that, it is at the point of resurgence, and the EGM should be the defining meeting to consolidate the latent support out there.

Jesus i didn't know it had been going that long. How much do you project in financial terms that you need. What have you built so far. Frames? Etc. I know you are raising for cylinders at the moment. Cheers Gav
