Excellent news regarding the insurer and the Cu. Let's all hope the new security measures deter them in future.

You'll just have to try that bit harder next time! Personally, I thought the insults were rather lacking in bite; no doubt Collin's comments were more forthright but almost certainly unprintable!

44 members came to the AGM, a pleasant and productive meeting. Security, progress and plans for the future were all discussed and the officers were all returned with a unanimous vote.

Since the meeting our smokebox saddle has been completed and has been moved to Dudley where it will be machined. We hope it won`t be too many weeks before it can be mounted on 82045`s frames although there appears to be a rather tricky paint job required first.

    Regards
    Barbara

Readers might be interested to know the various brackets that have been spotted and drilled through the frames recently have now been squared up in accordance with the drawing specifications. They are now re-bolted back on pending a monumental riveting session.

P.S. It's just as well we hadn't booked the library for the AGM; as its use this time might have been . . . ahem . . . . cosy!

Will the tricky paint job require Chris or Colin to become a contortionist within the smoke-box saddle exhaust passageways?

Re P.S. Yes indeed Brian, it would have been standing room only!

Colin has been studying the photographs with regard to painting, I think a spray gun has been mentioned.

paint - paint? I hope its BR lined black and NOT LMS red or GWR unlined green. can we have a photo charter? I'm not shining over the fence, trespassing, squashing crops and frightening sheep with my ladders and 28 cameras if it isn't black!

You could be right there., Perhaps if you'd been a little more specific and stated the shade of black...

Good gracious gentlemen.....get a grip! We are talking paint for the inner recesses and the exhaust passages of the smokebox saddle. It could be painted shocking pink with BR black spots, it may never be seen again! LOL!

As for 82045, it will appear first in BR Green (lined) as has always been the intention.
