One for insomniacs and night-shift workers! Any idea where she's going? Just around the Acton triangle or further afield?

Looks great. Roll on tonight and Saturday. All it needs is a set of articulated carriages and one of the beavertails. Thanks go out to Roland Kennington and Jeremy Hosking for repainting it.

It also occured to me last night that I have been behind a garter blue A4 with stainless steel letters though without side valances. 4498 at Loughborough but I wasn't very old and have no memory of it other than what my parents have told me.

So what are the times then? Is it just engine and brake or full load?

Not wishing to start an argument, but the "anti Southall snipers" were concerned regarding the quality of overhauls given to 2 locos which have subsequently proven to need extensive and expensive further work. To compare paintwork to mechanical state is quite frankly ludicrous, even apart from the fact that 60019/4492 was not overhauled at Southall, but by the MHR, and I believe is now looked after by an ex-MHR man!

Do the skirts/side valences cause any issues with gauging? I know that "Mallard" ran with the valences back in the 1980s, but just wondering if 4464/60019 might be restricted on any routes?

I was let in on the secret several weeks ago so it has been quite amusing to watch this thread develop. I've always thought that the A4s looked their best with their skirts on so cannot wait for Saturday to arrive and I get to see this wonderful apparition in the flesh.
Well done and thank you to everyone involved in making this transformation happen.
