Right, okay i know this is a long shot, but we seem to have a very active community on here and a lot of the industries important people that post, but i was thinking what are the chances of Nat Press doing thier own gala?? i know a lot of members take part in the Steel n Stars gala, but what about our own gala, or open day somewhere???

Would it be work out financially?
    would many come?
Where would you like it to take place?
    What locos would you request??

this is probably just for fun, but if we could make it work it'd be awsome, i know RMWEB have done something simlier with their members day,

so yeah over to you guys :)

I'd be willing to take part.
Personally I'd do it at one of the lesser profile preserved railways and bring in just the 1, relevent engine for a weekend.

A little while ago there was talk of a NatPres project, particularly in respect of an item of rolling stock.

A gala would probably be simpler, although is the thinking to promote an event or to sponsor one? Don't forget some railway enthusiasts can be very focused on their 'own' line, and any focus on a particular line will lead to inevitable accusations of bias and favouritism from other quarters. Nothing is insurmountable though.

Im sure if it was an interesting event i could drag the LMS patriot stand down. How about crewe heritage centre. they often have large locos there, and enough room for people to park (at tesco and other large car parks over the road)

How about at the Gloucs & Warks?
Any profits would be greatly appreciated by them I'm sure.

Not too sure about the financial side of organising a gala at a preserved line. Maybe sponsorship of an open weekend at one of the many works could be the way to go with a preview day set aside exclusively for members.
As an aside Tyseley Locomotive works do offer the opportunity for private group visits outside of normal Open Days if anyone's interested.

Barrow Hill are quite good at doing their own events so a Nat Pres one really isn't go to add anything or do anything different

I think a lesser line (no offence intended) with a lower profile but one that has a presence on Nat Pres, and would be willing to utilise a skills base on here to create something very different . A small pool of very committed people , each with the time and energy to see this through and allocated to a certain area of the gala organising
