If they're not, then something must have changed in the past 2 or 3 years. I have video of 60009 on the SSE in Aug 2007, restarting from Knaresborough.

I've just seen this on the Uk Steam Railtour page. If Dominion of New Zealand aka Bittern is to haul this excursion then it's even more exciting. Been Hauled by a Gresley Pacific out of leeds, especially an A4 is a first for me.

Update: Uk Steam Railtours page says Bittern replaces Brittania which is unavailable and is not going via Harrogate now.

Will it run with both tenders , thus in theory making a shorter duration trip and more relaxation in Warwickshire ?

We've noted before that RTC are not as adept as some others at updating their web site. They are about as timely as a monthly magazine. Then again, there are parts of steamage.co.uk that haven't been updated for years, so I'm in no position to criticise ;-)

Ticket arrived this morning from RTC. Timings are York 0816 / 2239, Doncaster 0929 / 2159, Stratford 1433 / 1720. Other points to note are (1) the "York Circle" has been removed from the itinerary seemingly for pathing rather than guaging reasons. Passengers from Knaresboro' and Harrogate are being bussed to and from York and those from Leeds are to use a service train to Doncaster. and (2) the letter begins "we have great pleasure in confirming that we will be steam hauled throughout by 70000 Britannia". Hmmm........ I suppose we will have to wait and see which loco appears on the day.

Now routed via Knottingley on the outward, first A4 this way on the former diversion route for a number of years I believe?

Last time an LNER liveried A4 visited I believe would be 1998 4468 on tow from York-Donny for the open day? I think it was 1998 anyway?

    Cheers,
    Mark

We are looking forward to this trip, but its baffling that the tickets that came last Friday still mentioned Britannia.
I presume as no movements are mentioned on UK Steam that 'Bittern' is still in York !.

Indeed, 60019 was in the NRM loco prep bay at lunchtime today.
Nearby in the car park were 60163 (being prepared to have its concrete 'brick' arch installed I believe) and 71000, newly arrived from the NYMR gala.
It was an interesting comparison between the fresh BR green paint on 'Tornado' and the more weathered coat on DoG.

Many years ago, I was at SonA when both Gresley and Mallard were there at the same - must look for the photos.

I've never known an A4 haul a tour to Stratford upon Avon before. This must be a first for Bittern i presume as Gresley engines didnt usually work on the Great Western Railway.

A4's have been regulars to Stratford , especially in the 1980's. It sound terrible to say but I got bored of 4498 . I think this will be the first on the North Warwicks , although not for an LNER (or LNER Designed) as 60532 did the return leg of a York Tyseley Railtour and then a day of Shakespeare Expresses
