Anybody know what Britannia will be doing in the 4hrs she's at Portsmouth? When Bittern popped down in Dec 09 she went off for a jolly on her own (left her stock in a Fratton siding) back off the island to be turned & watered, but on the timings for Britannia there are no loco movements showing which there would normally be.

No problem with Britannia going to Portsmouth Harbour, although there was with Duke of Gloucester which was the original designated replacement for Braunton.

    Platforms 4 & 5 OK, Platforms 1 & 3 restrictied. (RA4 from memory.)
According to TSDB the whole train is dragged to Fareham, reverses and steam hauled to havant then dragged back to Fratton.

    Cheers, Neil

Thanks for that Neil, I plan to watch the tour run in and out of Portsmouth on Monday as I have the day off. Does anyone know the rough times for the Fareham/Havant turning move? Thanks in advance!

Reports on gen groups that 70000 suffered a hot box today.
Made it onto the WSR by all accounts.

Monday's train to Portsmouth Harbour has now been cancelled, due to problems with 70000. I'm not sure if the problem is a hot box, or hot motion bearings ?
Also I've just learnt that 70000 was booked for next weekend's Devonian in place of 70013, which is also unavailable ?

What else can I say apart from :Cry::Cry::Cry::Cry: I was really looking forward to seeing her, had even managed to wangle an extended lunch & early finish from work (have to work bank hol) so I could see her in a couple of places. Well never mind, I just hope they get her fixed.

Along with 34067, this loco seems to be highly jinxed. What's happened to 70013?

The tour now re-scheduled for Sat.10th Sept with 34046. It's a pity for the passengers of the fully booked train
30777 could have not been booked as a stand by loco especially as 70000 has not been 100% all week.
I'm sure there is a good reason for there disappointment.
I was looking forward to going down to to have a look myself.

30777 is vacuum barke only and this tour was being run by DBS who only accept air braked locomotives. Hope 70000 is easily fixed.

    Regards,

    Dan

I know it's a gauging problem, sorry 'issue' , but it's such a shame that the tour had to be
postponed knowing that 71000 Duke of Gloucester and 6024 were sat at Bristol Barton Hill. <BJ>

    Yes it was a shame that this run could not go a head but with the best will in the world it would never have been possiable to get the F.T.R. done light movement and crew in place for the king or the duke to do the run;
    all the best
