Is the GCR saturating the gala market this year? Surely one every month is too much?

I have a screenshot somewhere showing the events calendar for the latter half of last year... If I remember rightly, it was something like one weekend between the August bank holiday and the start of the Santas that didn't feature a special event . But there must be method behind the madness, it surely wouldn't be going that way again this year if people weren't going?!

I think that the GCR do well to both put on so many varied events that appeal to different sections of the public, but also to publicise those events through the website.

It was very similer, infact I think the only "new" guest on this occasion will be Bellerophon.

According to the G.C.R newsletter the overhaul of 63601 has started, so that will now be a static exhibit.

Reported in the G.C.R. newsletter that Martello is being painted Black. Anyone know why? I would have thought that the Brown (Umber?) livery she was carrying would have been more fitting for a "Golden Oldies" weekend?

Timetable for Friday 27th now available on the G.C.R. website.

I think Martello is going into BR Black for a forthcoming event event at the KESR. As you say, the existing livery may have been more appropriate for the Golden Oldies event, but, personally, as longs as it steams and I can ride behind it, I don't really care what colour it is.

I had a drive down to watch this event and take a few pictures at Woodthorpe.
It was run in a similar way to the event last year but with Martello & Bellerphon as guest "Old Timers"
The rain had stopped and remained dull for most of the day but it didnt spoil the gala.

    Well done again GCR

I spent a very pleasant day on saturday watching the old timers on the line and thoroughly enjoyed their company whilst watching the old locomotives as well! We started off with overcast conditions and showers and finished with sunshine.Well done to all concerned in the organisation and planning.

I liked the headboards, its not as if anybody could ever achieve an authentic shot anyway, concrete sleepers, bullhead rail, etc.
