    Good people of the forum

The NLR are holding the second and probably final free travel day of the year on 19th June. This is not a wind up you can check the website and leaflets if you want. We are trying to raise the awarness of the railway. There are no limits to how many trips you can take or how many people can travel. We will be running a peak time table (1100, 1145, 1230, 1330, 1415, 1500, 1545) and hope to have Peckett 2104 in steam for the day.

Good luck with your open day, I hope it does the trick.

Can I make a few suggestions regarding your objective of "raising awareness of the railway":

    1. Sort out your website asap! There are far too many links on the left hand side and the opening page looks very messy (too many colours/fonts) - people want something that looks clean and attracts them to read more (through clicking a link). The "Latest News" section hasn't been updated since 2008! This is something that would be relatively simple and easy to sort out. (Take a look at this thread for some tips.)

    2. Better road signs. When I visited your railway (admittedly this was many years ago), I found it virtually impossible to find! Maybe things have improved since then, but the more clear signs to the railway (even from several miles away) the better.

    3. The site. Again things may be different now, but when I visited, I had to park and walk through a muddy field past lots of rusting stock and components, to get to the station. Not a good first impression.

I hope you take these points in the manner in which I make them - to help!

    Regards,

    Keith

    Keith/Ghost,

I visited the N&LR for the first time last Friday. I am pleased to say that the road signage was good and the site was very tidy. However, the website still needs a little work.

It was not a running day but the station was manned by a chap who was very welcoming and knowedgable. It was a pleasure to visit.

The railway is still a small affair but they have a plan and I wish them well.

Phil, it's good to hear that things have improved since I was there last.

That reduces the 'things to fix' list quite substantially!!

Thanks very much for your comments we are always happy to have constructive criticism. We are very aware the website is out of date and the back stage team are making a start on overhauling the pages. Most of the stock book is now up to date and they will soon be moving onto the next section. Regarding the state of the site we have done a lot to tidy the place up. Still more needs to be done but as im sure your aware its all a matter of time and man/woman power.

One of the committee did look into the road sign situation some time back, ill have to chase that up to see where things are.

Hope on your next visit to us you will be pleasently surprised

    Adam
