    One for the GWR fans.....

5029 Nunney Castle will be hauling The Cornishman on July 10th from Bristol to Par and return.

It'll be the first solo Castle over the Devon Banks since 5051 in 2005 and the first solo Castle to venture into Cornwall since 5029 in 2003. Let's hope for plenty of noise, in true GW fasion of course!

Any members on this one or planning to see it?

    Ben

nice one ben, here's hoping conditions are perfect for this very special day,a solo castle at long last again over the devon banks after all what's gone before in the past years since march 2005,and that was a splendid sight and sound.i hope there no attempted heroics in the driving of 5029,just a nice NATURALLY DRIVEN slog.

One assumes that It will be the usual Maroon MK1s that RTC use.

I don't think I've ever been on the footplate when the loco hasn't been driven naturally. The WCR crews are always very professional and never push a loco to its limits.

Family of four booked for The Cornishman...... still not sure whether to do Bodmin & Wenford or Lost Gardens of Heligan! We were at Bodmin over Easter, and my daughter (16) got a footplate ride of around 7 miles, was her brother jealous ????

We did this trip last year with Bittern and thoroughly enjoyed it, fantastic scenery and some stiff gradients - the Cornish mainline is like a rollercoaster! We did the Heligan option which was good though you never stood a chance of seeing all of it in the time available as you could easily spend a day there. However, seeing as we live so far away it was our only chance to see it until we decide to take a holiday in that direction. Enjoy the trip and hope for some decent weather!

Ticket arrived today. The trip does not get back to 22:55, it will be a very long day( I will be driving home that night, staying in hotel the night before). The BWR option arrives back at Parkway at 16:30, and the departure on the return is 17:54. Looks like a load of 8 (6 fare paying coaches plus Kitchen car and support coach).
I am looking forward to it,

I've gone for the 'servicing at St. Blazey' option lol!

Not long now, I'm really looking forward to this one. Such a shame we never made it last year but I am glad we've been given the trip this year.

I shall be collecting the headboard from Mr T Clarke of SVR fame during the week, the Castle will certainly look very nice with all the loco 'bling' on the front!

The letter from RTC says the BWR train will be 6435 + Auto coach, which is an excellent bonus. Fingers crossed everything goes to plan.

Really looking forward to this one, we're considering the Penzance option if we arrive at Par on time . . .

    1310, 1325 or 1341 off Par and 1550 off Penzance . . .

Just enough time for a Rattler Cider in the Yacht Inn and a Pellow's pasty on the jog back to the station! ;-)

Could anybody tell me what time the outbound train passes Totnes, as I'm down there on holiday this weekend & would like to see it.

    Thanks,
    Bob.
