Rumour has it that this will now be hauled by Tangmere.

That's a shame if true. I missed 48151 around Kent on Sunday. But if it's 34067 I'll still head out to see it.

Hmmm, I see Railway Herald is listing just Tangmere and no longer 48151 for the Swanage Cathedrals Express on 30th June too. I booked that trip because of 48151

Anyone know if that's true? Steam Dreams website hasn't changed yet.

Someone on here mentioned a lot of oil being poured into the eight the other day, anything in that?

There was mention of a hot bearing at Clapham Jct.yesterday morning. The crew were seen to be checking the loco thoroughly.

However she made it back o.k. about half an hour down at Kenny O.

According to info on The Works forum: "The 8F has a problem with a siderod bearing, and although it should be corrected in time for this operation, the 'safe bet' of substituting the Spam Can has been made."

oh good. Booked on tomorrow night... Had it been advertised as Tangmere I would have made do with memories of it on this run when it was £29 in Hertfordshire days...

still I'm going for a jolly with the girlfriend so should still be fun

Saw it crossing the Thames at Battersea this morning - train was crawling and my photo was wrecked by a passing Southern train. Diesel was just dropping off the back after banking out of Victoria.

A good trip behind 34067 this morning - my first time behind a spam can on the main line and I wasn't disappointed! We were about 10 minutes late away from the Frant water stop so that's why we were slow through Polhill, caught behind another train. We pretty much held that deficit until Victoria.

We also got held for a while outside Appledore, presumably to allow a Turbostar to clear the single track section.

    Regards,

    Dan
