I've never seen a Sentinel in action so I've no idea what they sound like, but there's plenty of time between the freight running down the bank and then returning for the the sentinel to get up so its speed won't be a problem. I have to disagree on the Tkh though, they have a very nice roar when working hard and will be something different.

I'll be there anyway as it's always a good event so I dont mind what turns up.

A Tkh most definitely does make sound. Got a very good recording of one climbing Kelling Bank on the NNR a few years ago.

All I can say is that the two I've seen (and not heard!) running were most unimpressive and at the Foxfield gala one usually gets a great show.

I'd have to disagree on that one, having had a couple of memorable performances behind them! Have to be worked a bit to make any real sound, but where better?

yeah but the problem with the sentinel is that it will only just get up the bank there on it's own!

IIRC one ran Grosmont - Goathland with a single MK.1 several years ago. Wasn't a fast run by all accounts. :)

They had a Sentinel at Barrington a few years ago and it did fine on the loaded chalk trains. They were part of the North Staffs coalfield scene and S9535 at Foxfield is ex Silverdale. I would love to see one shunting the yard and making the occasional run up the bank.

I love Polish steam....but only in Poland. The Avon Valley has a TKH and that is enough for me let alone at Foxfield.

Now a USA tank in NCB livery....different and very loud!

The above was based on this "works grey" livery:

And a 16 ton Mineral undergoes a general repair and repaint:

I believe the guest may well be No.19 - so that's two red Bagnalls to play with

Following the withdrawal of Peckett 0-4-0ST 'May' from the gala due to prior commitments the replacement has now been confirmed as Bagnall 0-4-0ST 'Davenport Dockyard No19' from the Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway.

The Welsh boyos are back for a second year following the highly successful visit of 'Mech Navvies' in 2010.

Sad as it is that "May" cant make it, Bagnall 19 will fit the bill very well indeed.

Many thanks to the P&B and to the owners at Bodmin. Special thanks to Alex - never has a replacement been sorted so fast !.
