A well organised proper gala with visiting locos. which actually turn up. We haven't had one of them since S.S.& S. 2.

Have to put this in the diary. Looking forward already, and nothing's been announced yet!

Was just glancing through the latest Steam Railway magazine today. Looks as though the first visitor has been confirmed in the form of the Talyllyn Railway's 'Dolgoch'.

It will run on a short demonstration line in Carrog yard.

Well, I wasn't expecting that. I would have thought 70000 would hard to get as April is the start of the mainline season. But hey, hats off the 6880 Group for securing her services well in advance.

Wonder if they could be the first to do the "double" and get Oliver Cromwell as well ? :)

What about 5199? Is it's long-term future away from Llangollen?

Don't know tbh. She is to stay at CVR till the early part of next year, when she will return to LR and star in SSS3 in the April. Come May 2012 I have no idea whether she will return to CVR or stay LR for a season or longer.

As most people would have heard the news on either the news desk on here, or on the Betton Grange's website.

Betton Grange & Llangollen Railway are proud to announce that Celebrity A1 Pacific 60163 'Tornado' will make it's first visit to the Dee Valley for our 9 day spectular Steam Gala next April.

Right at home on a GWR brach line... Still, it'll bring the crowds in no doubt.

I hope we've got enough coaches to carry the hordes of visitors !
What we will have is the Thompson 'Elizabethan' Buffet Lounge Car serving a selection of bottled ales, & if we can get our Real Ale dept. cranked up we might have a few barrels lined up on the counter. We have now fitted conventional steam heat to replace the original pressure ventilation system on this vehicle, the p.v. not being suitable for constant starting & stopping ,all at low speeds.
My S.R. 'Queen Mary' brake van will be available for the freight train & hopefully visitors will be able to travel on it for a small fee.

Is there going to be a display of miniature locos at Glyndyfrdwy this time? I came up for the two weekends last time with some friends and their locos (7 1/4 IOM 'Peveril', Pug, Tich and a 5 inch D49) and I was wondering if they will be looking for locos again next year. A friend of mine also has a 7 1/4 6868 'Penrhos Grange' which I could try and convince them to bring up.
