    I'm on this as well.

    Got to wait a long time for a decent start to stop schedule! 25 minutes Basingstoke to Woking with a cross over to the slow line at Woking.

    A repeat of the run I had with 34019 on 20th June 1965 would be very nice.

    14 on for 500 tons gross. Driver Sullivan and Fireman Rowe.

    25 mins and 5 seconds start to stop. Including a signal stop for 41 seconds at Woking Junction. Under 23 minutes net for 23.5 miles.

    Just 77 mph maximum. And looking at my notes we braked to 70 through Farnborough so may have been on the slow line.

    We'd had a very good climb of Roundwood bank as well. 54½ mph over the top starting from Winchester. Not bad for a light pacific on 14 cars!

    Now there's optimism. My money is on a switch to the slow line anywhere where Tangmere should be doing 75 mph rather than at Woking! Seriously, she might be slow line all the way and tucked in behind the semi fast (stops at Fleet, Farnborough) that leaves about five minutes ahead and is due out of Woking a few minutes before Tangmere should be arriving.

    Seeing as my last two steam tours got postponed or cancelled, I am very much looking forward to this trip. Lets hope the weather holds.

    At the moment it looks like there might be a few showers around Swanage - but forecasts have been known to be unduly pessimistic on many occasions.
    Tangmere is currently scheduled to have a 25 minute coaling/watering stop at Swanage before setting off to Salisbury at 1510. 48151 departs with the tour at 1600.

    I am told the plan is to run fast line all the way to Woking before crossing to the local line.

    Giving a rare chance of an even time start to stop run on a section so famous for that in steam days. Good start and finish and 75 mph sustained in between.

    But I suppose the reality of the situation will be rather different................

    Well, I'm all set for tomorrow.

    Not sure if it's a pure coincidence, but tomorrow evening will be the 44th anniversary of the final day of that famous "Burridge week", (he was rest day on the 29th), of incredible runs between Basingstoke and Woking. And tomorrow we have what I think is a very rare start to stop between those two stations on the fast line.

    Maybe someone in SD or elswhere has a great sense of occasion and history!

    We can't expect a repeat of the 30th June 1967 run with 34021. 19 mins 15 seconds start to stop for the 23.5 miles, including a check at Farnborough. Didn't quite make 100 mph that night as the loco was not steaming too well.

    But if Tangy and crew are running well and get green lights all the way a 22 min 30 second run is well possible with a 75 mph limit. My 34019, (an unrebuilt loco), run with 14 cars and a max of 77 mph showed that all those years ago on 20th June 1965.

    An even time start to stop run would be a wonderful way to celebrate that record breaking week all those years ago.

    48151 appx 30 minutes late at Parkstone this evening having been lopped to follow the stopper down. Looking forward to seeing and hearing her at the top of Parkstone Bank tomorrow evening and then in due course to Alberta's video for a repeat. DH

    Just noticed that, according to UKsteam.info at least, this train stops at Bournemouth going down, but not on the way back. Mind you, SD doesn't mention other destinations, besides Swanage and Corfe, on it web site.

    We're having a cracking run so far behind Tangmere, who is in splendid form. No diesel attached, and we hurtled through Winchester at 75mph. According to the on-train timetable, Swanage Railway have given us a quicker path, and we now have 14.05 to 16.15 at Swanage. Mainline times are unaffected.

    Tangmere and 12 on down at top of Parkstone Bank at 1243 running gently but at least 10 early on the times I last saw.
    Hope you guys on board are having a good trip - she seems in good form DH

    Must have got a favourable pathing around Brockenhurst - instead of being stuck behind the Poole stopper... Looking forward to hearing what an 8F and possibly 13 on (it came down with two support coaches yesterday) sounds like as it heads out of Poole bay up into Parkstone.
