    One of the highlights of the UK heritage diesel calendar comes to the ELR again with a number of the nations best preserved diesel locos. Widely acclaimed as the best diesel extravaganza of any British heritage railway, this year’s ELR Diesel Gala promises to be bigger and better than in previous years, starring 20048, 33201, 46045, 50044, 50035.

    The weekend will feature home fleet locomotives including 20087, 33109, D7076, 37109, 37518, 37901, D1501, 50015, D9016, 55022. There will also be a Beer Ex on Saturday 2nd July. All Locos are subject to availability, no pre booking required. Special event fares apply.

    Excellent Summer gala this year, well organised, well thought out coach rakes and combinations, and as always a warm welcome on the railway. Looking forward to the October Deltic fest already! As said above the star attraction was 50 044 Exeter looking superb in original BR blue:

    just come back from the event, BRILLIANT! Obviously the weather helped but every credit to the organisers and staff involved. The Hymek thrash from Bury was wonderful!!

    Lovely shot, Duncan. The lad and I enjoyed a great day out yesterday, the only disappointment being the non-appearance of the LoadHaul 50, which we understand suffered a traction motor failure on the Saturday beerex. Superb variety of traction, intensive timetable, friendly staff and customers. We were told Saturday was busier than the Sunday, which was remarkably quiet until the afternoon.
