Cannot see this posted elsewhere, so here goes! Just received a letter from "Steam Railway" offering priority booking and a discount, I had forgotten I had contributed to the Steam Railway "Cromwell" appeal some years ago.

Tour is London Liverpool St -Norwich and return via Ely, they say it is exactly 60 years to the day (July 2nd) since the "Brits" took up their diagrams on that line.

Normal fares for this trip are £84 standard, £119 first class and £199 Premier Dining. Cromwell Appeal contributors can claim a £10 discount. See next issue of "Steam Railway" due March 4th.

Nice to be remembered after all this time!

I think I will go and stand at Broxbourne or Harlow and watch it come through in the evening.

I travelling on the train tomorrow so hoping for a good trip and a good blast up Brentwood Bank.
Who would have thought 60 years ago that "Brits" would still be running on the Great Eastern.

Just back from a superb trip. Booked for 2hr 30 min outwood excluding 14 min water stop. Actual left LS 8min late, left Colchester 1 min late, held for 4 min at Ipswich( for Cambridge Service) , and arrived 6 min early! Actual time on the move 2 hr 11 min.

On the return left 3 min late, and were 14 min early at Brandon, reduced speed after Brandon and still arrived 12 min early at Ely. Arrived Liverpool Street 6 min early.

Thanks to RTC, 5305 LA, West Coast, SR, NRM, and Network Rail

Yes I am an active volunteer
Have to say she was magnificent as she roared through Shelford station at around 19:15 with both safety valves well and truly lifted! My 8 year old son proclaimed 'Wow! That was a quick one.'

I agree entirely, a wonderful down run. Even Mr Notley said it was 'cracking'. Make interesting copy if he gets it typed up in time for his Monday deadline!

Was fantastic to see loco turned out for special run with original headboard, disks and full maroon set against a full blue sky for majority of the day on Saturday. A real credit to the 5305LA for turning out cromwell in top notch performance. With my first shot at Kelvedon Station and my second shot at Attleborough, i could hear it for 5 mins before it passed as no wind was present. Unknown to me it was running about 5 mins early at the time so i was like no chance is that brit. Oh yes it was!!!

I'll second that. Superb shots Oli.

Thought there would be some decent videos but there are not many great videos on youtube yet but it looks like Shenfield was a good place to be to see 70013 at full cry:
