Tragic news from a privately owned museum in the Republic of Ireland that specialised in buses from north of the border:

I've just read the most recent updates from Kells Bus Musuem - what a truely shocking state of affairs. It makes me quite depressed and disgusted that heritage can be treated in such a way.
I hope that at least something can be salvaged, good luck to them.

How utterly bizarre that someone should apparently take the trouble to travel the length of the Irish Republic to bomb some preserved buses, just because they once belonged to an Ulster company. Heritage terrorism - barking mad. Hope they catch them. Best of luck to the museum with their rebuild plans.

utterly bizarre? well read up about Kells on the internet and you will find the place is indeed utterly bizarre. Worth investing an hour, you will be bemused at the very least.

They should hand the culprits and let them burn to hell. Hope all goes well for rebuilds

My heart was in my mouth when I saw your photos of the devistation caused by the bombs. It leaves you speachless. 5 years ago this week we had the first of two fires, the first of which we lost a London bus and a Leyland Beaver 1951 wagon and badly damaging our 1956 Leyland PD/2. Most definitly not directed at our collection but at an owner of a horse box wagon parked in our shed. The second fire aimed at the horse box owner took out 5 caravans. (The police couldn't have bothered less)
After the initial pain, don't let any one tell you its just a few buses, it is important to get back on top of things. Which judging by your rally pics you are.
I hope your insurance comp was good (the NFU were fantastic) and gives you all the help you need.
Even 5 yrs on we wince at the sound of cracking or a glow reflecting on glass but don't let these morons get you down.
Good luck in all you do.

At the risk of being rude, their website is bloody awful and no-one in their right mind uses Internet Exploder in preference to Firefox.

Such kind words - unthinking arrogant prat!

Voluntary museums have enough on their hands without this sort of problem and that sort of response

I am not unsympathetic to the museum... but, for heaven's sake, how is an operation like that supposed to attract visitors when its website can only be used by 40% of computer users (on a browser that no right-thinking user ever uses, so hopelessly badly-designed and unsecure is it)? The website is the attraction's shop window and such poor, unthinking design severely compromises the ability of the attraction to get visitors. A good website, on the other hand, can be an enormous asset.
