I wish that I had taken a few more Underground pictures. I just took it for granted in those days.

Delayed at Weymouth apparently due to a problem with support coach ?? not too sure on details all sorts of rumours floating about.
Britannia over top of Parkstone Bank at 1830 with 10 on - good climb and not that noisy either - running 60 minutes down DH

I won't head out just yet then. That means she will be off Basingstoke at 20.40 or can they make up the time? The water stop at Eastleigh is short anyway and there was a pathing stop at Basingstoke.

Reported on WRGEN (ta James at SVN) that may have had to have a quick top up at Southampton as well as the scheduled fill at Eastleigh - reported appx 90 down at Southampton Parkway - not a good return trip so far DH

Went past Southwood between Fleet and Farnborough at around 21.16. Too dark for gricing, so I just stood and watched. Very nice it was too. Nice clean fire, so very little smoke, but a lovely orange glow from the firebox illuminating the crew...

    Magic!

I could still hear it a minute or so later, and I've still the smell in my nostrils!

My raw footage taken at Micheldever - many many thanks to the person who submitted the Hinton Admiral update as it at least let me go & sit in my car for a while, plus I was able to update another couple who were able to go home & save their dinner from burning:

The Weymouth activity today was odd all round. Tangmere arrived and when seen on Jersey Sidings looked low on coal and there was no water bowser provided at the usual place (Did it take on water in the main station?) and that seemed odd. Tangmere then simply sat simmering in the sidings with no attempt to shunt the support coach off. Britannia arrived and they got that support coach up to the top end of the sidings eventually.

Then not a lot happened, which was very puzzling given the 16:35 departure time. A lot of orange jacket activity at the top end of the sidings though where Britannia's support coach was being attached which would support the iffy support coach theory. Then it also looked for a while as if perhaps Tangmere wasn't going to go but an hour late the rake backed down to the station and then went out. The most puzzling thing was that even though the train was not set up to go at the time it was due to back down it got the road set for it.

However the departure also looked very odd given Tangmere was low on coal (personal observation confirms) as from where I was I could see up to Spa Road bridge and at that point Tangmere, banking, was clearly giving it the lot but the output from the Brit looked negligible as though at that point it was ailing!
