I thought I'd give this its own thread

Every Sunday from 17th July until 28th August.

    17th July: 6024
    24th July: 5029
    31st July: 34067 ?
    7th August: 5029
    14th August: 5029
    21st August: 5029
    28th August: 34067 ?

Bristol Temple Meads - Keynsham - Bath Spa - Trowbridge - Westbury - Frome - Weymouth & return.

Definately a worth-while trip, especially for those wanting to take the family to the seaside on a journey with a difference at (most importantly!) an affordable price. £140 for a family ticket (compared to £248 on the Torbay... Ouch!).

We (5029 crew) had nothing but praise last year with these trips, with many people commenting on how wonderful the loco looked/sounded/performed (the Castle effect!).

Also, look out for the new headboard currently being made, designed by yours truely! It should look something like this:

    See you there!

Is it true 5029 is now doing this Sunday's train due to gauging issues with 6024?

there has been a question over gauging for 4936 . I've heard nothing that confirms either way .

Received an e-mail 6024 has failed, and that our trip is now with 5029. I'm not bothered, prefer Castles tbh so looking forward to it even more now!

It seems rather strange business to me that 2 different trips to seaside locations both start on the same day of the week from the same city. I am sure it must be to do with routes and facilities, but surely trying to tap a market based elsewhere would have been a better idea for the Weymouths?

A word of warning: The times sent to passengers with the tickets, and also the times currently showing at the RTC website are incorrect. The train departs Bristol Temple Meads at 08:51 NOT 09:50 and runs earlier to Frome. This change is due to the very late pathing by NR.

    The times are now
Bristol Temple Meads outbound depart 08.51 return arrive 21.19
Keynsham depart 09.04 * see note below
Bath Spa outbound depart 09.18 return arrive 20.57
Trowbridge depart 09.42 * see note below
Westbury outbound depart 10.13 return arrive 20.23
Frome outbound depart 11.08 return arrive 19.56
Weymouth arrive 13.10 depart on the return 18.08

    * Note: No stop at Trowbridge and Keynsham on return

Can we give NR some building blocks to play with instead of playing "juggle train times". The original times must of been agreed. I hope RTC inform all intending passengers accordingly.

I assume you are on about the 'Torbay' and the 'Weymouth'. In my own opinion, whilst both trips are hauled by steam loco, the markets are quite different: The Torbay focuses on the experience of steam travel from a by-gone age and offers dining, whereas the Weymouth is more about a trip by steam train to the seaside.

    Would you agree?

6024 has not failed ! It has not yet been gauged for the route, so 5029 is doing this weekend's train.

Just saying what was in my inbox this morning. As I have no other source of information I had no reason to doubt it.

So if someone sent an email to your inbox saying the moon was made of cheese and you had no other source of information. Would believe that and broadcast it to the world?

If I had booked a trip to the moon, and the company I was travelling with sent me my tickets and an official letter saying as such then yes!

Not my fault there has been a mis-communication somewhere. And anyway we all know the moon is made of cheese, have you not seen Wallace & Gromit?
