I was looking at a Youtube video of the NRM in Oct 2001 and opposite Winston Churchill, what looks like a GWR Tank engine in British Railways Colours (Black). link below. 6 min 52 sec into video there abouts.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weRHJ8lz0uw

I read the number as 65346, but when I look for this number it comes up as a J36. Which it definitely is not. Has a false number been applied and if so what is this engines real identification.
I visited the NRM that year in the July/August on a family day out, but didn't take any notes and I only have a few photos from that trip. Which don't catch this engine.
So could anyone enlighten me to when this arrived and left the NRM and is this a false number.

    Regards
    Albert

No. it is J52 No.1247, at the time of the video in BR livery as 68846. I believe that this was the first privately preserved standard gauge loco when bought from BR service by Capt Bill Smith in about 1958/59. Capt Bill was a true gentleman. as he and 1247 became more advanced in years, he donated her to the NRM. In the late 1970s, she was a mainstay of NYMR services (having arrived from Tysley in 1974 at the same time as 45428 and the GW Saloon - both mainstays to this day), including a special which I seem to recall acted as an 80th birthday bash for both her and the noted author O S Nock!

Last I knew, she is out of ticket and on display at Shildon, having been repainted in GNR Green since arrival there.

Looks like a Pannier Tank (or perhaps not). It would help if you used a tripod!

I think it's the J52 in its BR livery as 68846:
