5239 is in for the next week. Then it should be 4277 and 7827's debut in BR lined black!

So if I want to come down on the Torbay Express and see 7827 running, is there a weekend you could recommend?

Does that mean 7827 is rostered for the 16th?

    Hi both,

Unfortunately I can't say for sure. We try to keep the tanks in for weekends at this time of year as they are better with the longer trains that we expect.

    Sorry!

I suppose from the previous comments then that it'll probably be one of the 2-8-0Ts saturday then? Any indications would be much appreciated to help us plan our four hours in Paignton on Saturday.

    Folks,

7827 "Lydham Manor" is running the single green service this weekend. It will then be herself and 4277 "Hercules" running the blue 2 train timetable Monday-Thursday. All being well 7827 "Lydham Manor" will be running the green service again next Friday 15th - Sunday 17th and then rejoining 4277 "Hercules" for the blue timetable again on the Monday before she will possibly be withdrawn later on in the week for a washout, being replaced by 5239 "Goliath"

Hope this helps, obviously subject to break-downs etc!

Excellent. Watch out for a group of us from LR visiting on the 16th. Making a weekend of it as also going on the Weymouth trip on the Sunday.

7827 and 4277 were simmering gently at Paignton when I drove past on way to work this morning :+)

Today was a good time to be at Kingswear. 7827 in BR black (lined) on the service trains, and Tornado on the Torbay Express. They were both in the station around 12.45 - 13.00 which I observed from Dartmouth; coming over later to catch the 15.15 to Paignton. At Goodrington we crossed Tornado LE returning to Kingswear to take the return TE - presumably having visited Paignton for coal and water after turning at Churston?

Yes, After arrival at Kingswear loco shunts the stock then is LE to Churston for turning, then on to Paignton for servicing, and returning to Kingswear to collect train.

I think she is to remain black until she is next withdrawn for overhaul in 2015 (when 75014 takes her place)

Yes, she looked spot on last weekend and sounded good too. Had a good day at PDSR, including some retro HST haulage both to and from Paignton. Also had a very enjoyable meal and few pints of Otter at the Ship Inn at Kingswear. And at £10 I felt it was defo value for money!

Thanks Stu, I was hoping she'd still have her new look for my annual trip down in Sept.

What is on the service trains currently? When and what is the next planned loco swap?

I saw 7827 with a warming fire yesterday at Paignton but don't know which of the to loco's working (4277 & 5239) it would replace !
Had to come home yesterday evening.
There is some that work there that come on here sometime, may be they can help with which loco it replaced.
