Llangollen Bus Rally & Classic Transport Weekend - August 27th & 28th 2011

A new event for the railway which will feature our locos and a DMU each day, as well as steam. Gen from the LR's website:

The North West Museum of Road Transport in conjunction with the Llangollen Railway is proud to present a brand new event:- The Llangollen Railway Classic Transport Weekend. This year we will be incorporating 100 years of Crosville bus services to be staged at Glyndyfrdwy station on the Llangollen Railway on 27/28th August 2011 which is right in the heart of Crosville land! We are trying to get as many Crosville vehicles to the event as possible along with plenty of other preserved vehicles as well. Buses will be running between Glyndyfrdwy and Corwen regularly along with a busy timetable of trains which will include steam, diesel and dmu! The timetable is still being prepared, but at present we expect to put two of our locos out each day, along with two steam locos and a DMU. This, coupled with all the buses that will be in attendance should be of interest to many cranks I'm sure!

I will confirm the loco roster when available, however PROVISIONALLY it will be Sulzer action on Saturday with D1566 (subject to sorting the fault that caused her to fail at the 60s' weekend) and D5310, then EE on the Sunday with 5580 and 6940.

 

The two steam locos rostered for both days are Manor engine 7822 Foxcote Manor, and the 2-8-0 heavy freight loco 3802.

 

Top stuff - a good mix as 3802 was not in use at 60's weekend. We'll confirm which flavour of railcar is planned as soon as we know!

 

Joining 7822 and 3802 next weekend should be:

Saturday: Class 26 D5310 & Class 37 6940
Sunday: Class 31 5580 & Class 37 6940
