Chevallier is currently back at whipsnade, and is running well. A good sight to see.

Thanks ever so much for that, she is looking mighty fine indeed. Lovely machine in my opinion.

I wonder if the move will become permanent, thought I expect that she is very powerfull compared to the other loco's in the fleet.

Of course, he (or she?) has been there before ..... attached was taken in 1983. Note the differences.

Mmmm..... I know the new Glyn Valley Tramway has been mooted as a 2' 6" line (given that the original was 2' 4" plus or minus a bit) but I wonder why they didn't consider 2' 3" - it would have allowed the preserved Glyn Valley stock from the TR to visit......

It is difficult enough to source equipment for 2ft.6ins let alone the infinitely more obscure 2ft.3ins or 2ft4.5ins.

I'd say more the opposite, it's really easy to obtain 2ft 6in equipment, most railways are busy regauging it to 2ft!

A case of exaggeration I suspect

There's an element of reality in this - the last big MoD systems to close at Trecwm, Dean Hill and the one in Scotland were all 2ft 6" gauge, I think and these provided a great deal of rolling stock such as box vans.

Doubt she will go there due to her weight. She is however running well at Whipsnade.

Posted this morning on the Narrow Gauge Enthusiasts Group on Facebook, Chevallier is having a little holiday at The Flour Mill's "twin" railway in Romania this weekend. Looks good fully lined out.
