And, come to that, young bus enthusiasts if they like old buses!

Despite the dreadful weather, I went to Showbus 2010 at Duxford Aerodrome on Sunday. There were 450 buses booked to attend, but there were a number of empty spaces so perhaps the weather forecast put some entrants off. Nevertheless, I have never seen so many buses in the same place at the same time, not all of them heritage ones though, as I saw a Stagecoach double-decker with the latest '60' numberplate.

However, I was there to see the oldies and, despite the rain, managed to get some reasonable pictures. The first few are now on my Fotopic site and, if anyone is interested to see them, here's the link :

    http://ronfisher.fotopic.net/c1099919.html

Just to get you excited, here's the first one :

Hope that they are of interest.

There are plenty more still to come; they will be added to the Fotopic site as time permits.

I forgot to mention in my first message that they are currently in the 'Stop Press!' collection which is where all the new pictures go to start off with. In due course I shall move them on to join the other old bus and car pictures here :

I was wondering why so many old buses were blocking the M11 at 4pm on Sunday !!
One routemaster trundled down the middle lane of the M11 past Stansted airport (circa 40mph) heading to London for nearly 5 minutes before realizing what a jam it was making behind it.

I counted at least a half dozen routemasters, an RT etc heading south.

There were certainly plenty of Routemasters there, plus a good turn out of RTs, too. Indeed, London Transport was well represented with buses in both the central red and country green liveries.

A selection of the red ones is now on my Fotopic site - at least, the pictures of them are!

This is the link for anyone interested to see them :

And, to give you a taster, here's a line-up of just some of the Routemasters :

amazing, the routemaster, a 21st century design, designed in the heady colourful days of the 60's, still look modern, has a sort of streamlined look about it, seems that more routemasters went into private ownership than any other heritage bus, there were a good dozen at the big green gathering at Cheddar last time, some running service to Weston and back, yes I went, marvelous, wish I could have gone to Duxford, do like old half cab coaches, thanks for posting.

Another half-a-dozen pictures from last month's Showbus Rally at Duxford are now on my Fotopic site.

They are in the 2nd Gallery which now has its own 'Stop Press!' collection for new pictures :

That's a great set of pictures, Ron. Like you've said on your Fotopic site, there are many railway enthusiasts that like old buses too - I'm one of them! I'd love to go to Duxford one day and not just to see buses. There's some great work going on there with historic aeroplanes too.

    John.

At long last, I have finally found the time to get the rest of the pictures I took at Duxford last year onto my Fotopic site. Here's the first one :

    Evening All,

As some of you may be aware, I am slowly rebuilding my Fotopic site on Flickr and I have now finished the pictures from last year's Showbus Rally at Duxford. Most of you probably saw the pictures before Fotopic disappeared but, in case there are any new members that didn't, or if anyone would like to see them again, they are now here :

Hope that they're (still) of interest.

I passed my PSV test on a Guy half cab double decker, old (very old) Gardner engine, goodness knows what brand of crash box it was, but I passed, 1959, (nobbut a lad). I only used the licence very rarely, it's long expired now. BB62286, still got the badge.

Probably a Guy Arab utility Victor.

We had a couple in Lancaster that lasted until the mid - late 60's. We also had some Crossleys with Gardner (5 cylinder?) engines too.

Whoa, that photograph brings back a lot of memories. Being a very hilly area round these parts an old Gardner and a crash box was not for the faint hearted. And if one of them got a flat battery, 2 or three of the lads with a rope on the starting handle, a sharp tug, and the old Gardner was banging like a good un.
    Happy days.

If you want to see a Guy Arab Utility there is one at the London Bus Museum which has recently moved to the Brooklands Museum and is open 7-days a week. Previously known as the Cobham Bus Museum, it was finally relocated to Brooklands in time for the School Holidays so now visitors can see Buses, Racing Cars and Aeroplanes all on one site. We have a Concorde as well as other airliners which were built by Vickers.

The websites are still being updated to reflect the move but you can see the Arab here :-

    http://www.lbpt.org/g351.html

and the Brooklands Museum website :-

Thanks for that Brider. I think the Lancaster City Transport Guys were ex London Transport Utilities. Pity none survived into preservation.

I am not sure you have read my request quite correct

I require footage and or photos of the vehicles or similar types to those that are in situ at Dover Transport Museum in Kent such as I am aware they have a Leyland Titan PD3 and therefore would be very greatful of footage and or pictures of a Leyland Titan PD3

I don't believe Brider was responding to your post. He was assisting those who posted about Guy Arab Utility buses.
