Does anyone have a rough idea for a price for a class 37 starter motor, and how easy it is to get cab door keys? asking for a friend of mine.

Which loco are you asking about? None rebuilt class 37's with the English Electric engines do not have starter motors. Battery current is applied to the aux generator, which then acts as a motor, and turns the engine over. The rebuilt locos have alternators rather than generators, so therefore do have starter motors, but depending on what engine is fitted will effect what starter motor you need.
Normally if a loco does not start, it is a problem with one or more of the protection circuits, or fuel system. What are the symptoms. Does the engine turn but not fire, or does nothing seem to happen. Is the lub oil priming pump running?Let me know, and I will try to give you some pointers
