It wasn't a particularly signficant derailment from what I understand.

If was actually at Scarborough it could have happened when 6201 was being run round to the other end of the train and turned to haul back to Crewe on the return leg.

I believe it was as Lizzie was moving onto (or off) the turntable.

We were on the Flyer today, we left Scarborough one hour late, had made up 10 minutes by York, 30 minutes by Denton (water stop), and were nine minutes late getting to Wilmslow, where we got off.

Lizzie worked the train alone all the way, no diesel assistance required.

Good news. That shows how much slack there is in this year's time-table

For some reason WCR had removed a standard coach and replaced it with a 1st. Caused no end of confusion at Crewe as passengers tried to find seats that where not there. Sorted by the time we got to Wilmslow so you were one of the fortunate few who ended up in 1st class comfort.. First time this year that there was space, all the previous Flyers have been as good as full.

Another great day out with Lizzie on Friday. The loco performed perfectly and was immaculately turned out; a credit to all. The minor contretemps at Scarboro was sorted and a massive thanks must go to all in the support crew for saving the day and preventing huge disappointment to all the passengers.

We left Scarbro only an hour late - it could have been much worse, it could have been a Duff! :) - which eventually turned into a 6 minute late arrival at Crewe.

A short video is now up, however, the climb to Standege tunnel was in darkness so all that is on the vid at the end is the sound of a superb locomotive accelerating the load 12 up the 1 in 96/105 out of Huddersfield from a standing start. A joy to listen to. :)

Leaving Scarborough an hour late and getting back to Crewe only 6 down must tell, RTC and even NR how ridiculously slow the booked timings are.

you were lucky --we had tickets in what should have been standard class coach G which turned out to be first class but we were moved from the seats stated on our ticket and put into the back coach and told that our coach had been incorrectly numbered----

Enjoyed a brilliant trip Crewe - York on friday returning to Huddersfield. A really enjoyable trip with 6201. During the time in York I watched 70013/777 leaving towards London. Much later the unfortunate experience of massively late ECML expresses. Attending a wedding next day several guests had seen or heard 6201 in the upper Colne Valley!!

For the final Flyer tomorrow there will be text updates on railtour live. As usual, not too many if running to time, but more if either early or late by more than 10 minutes.

A few shots of the last Flyer of the year at:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3W1oLMVjVo

The last train of this summer series is seen on the outward leg at Burton Salmon with Lizzie gliding gently towards her water stop at Milford and then manouvering her position at Milford sidings. Finally she is seen at Ulleskelf Station on her way to Scarborough via York.

Some spirited driving on the return run yesterday and the climb from Huddersfield to Marsden reported at 13 minutes something, equalled only be 6233 some time back. Video of some of this later.

Ron Smith in control of the last 'Flyer' of the season to Scarboro'........and Bill Andrew for the return run!!..........hastily re-instated from retirement , no doubt to ensure no hiccups after last weeks ECML debacle.....!
