    All locos facing Holt. Absolutely superb day today, a really quality show. The Ivatt 4 looks very at home back on the M&GN shame we've got to send it back to the SVR. 45305 immaculate and romping along on 6 mk1s, a gentle rest after the exertions of last week.

    May I just say, a big thank you to everyone who attended the gala this year, from what I heard on the Friday and Sunday it seemed like a good time was had by visitors and volunteers alike. From what I also saw there were many people lineside, and I can't wait to see some of the (many) photos taken over the three days. Bring on the photos !! :smile:

    There did seem to be a lot of people lineside (it seemed like dozens each day) and they weather was generally good. I enjoy this gala, as it always seems just a little bit different.

    Had a great day on Saturday,a brilliant event. Only had a few hours on Saturday sadly but will try and come for the full weekend (and buy a ticket/photo pass) next March and September. One of the best gala's I have been to for a long time.

    A few photos from Saturday are up here:

    One thing however that I did notice is the rather unsafe behaviour of a number of lineside pass holders. Some were walking either on sleeper ends or in the four foot (not the cess/a safe distance),even when trains were approaching,some bloke even had his foot on the rail as 43106 was approaching Weybourne and was just 200 yards behind him! A lot also seemed to be standing very close. Even saw someone with a walking stick!!

    I must say that the actions of a few are letting the majority down,seriously I think the NNR could do with more policing of the positioning and behaviour of photographers otherwise there could be a nasty accident.

    A lot didnt acknowledge whistles either,all round seemed to be quite a few in unsuitable gear and not paying much attention.......

    Certainly they wouldn't get away with it on the GCR/WSR for example.

    Other than that,a great event and a wonderful railway.

    Cheers,
    Mark

    Hi All

    A great day on Saturday. A well planned gala with the organised visit of 43106. The turnout was very impressive with trains looking well loaded. As mark has mentioned above, a lineside pass will be on order for the next gala. I was standing with Mark at Weybourne, and with phottters looking quite oblivious to approaching trains and one sitting on the cess at one point, i hope their actions can be improved for next time.

    Please see my pics from the day

    I couldn't make the gala, so went up on Wednesday and Friday to phot 43106. Good forecast both days. In reality the weather was rubbish! Dull, grey, overcast. I knew there was a photo charter booked to run on Friday evening, but I hadn't booked on it, but I thought I'd wait around in case the weather did break and then decide whether to go on the charter. Fortunately the cloud started to break, just as the empty stock from Sheringham to Weybourne for the charter appeared.

    Well worth the drive up there straight after a night shift and the complete lack of sleep!

    The Flying Pig left Sheringham today, hope it comes back on another visit one day.

    Belatedly here are my photos. A few less this year due to an early morning guards turn, but seeing Kelling at 6.30 you can't complain. A new place for my photos - i'll gradually be moving stuff across here over the next few weeks;
