Looks like the tender has an exhaust. Late design change to improve driver visibility perhaps?!....

Well thats good news Frank. When I first saw it on the other stream, it reminded me rather of the grand olden day posters which really highlighted the engine and coaches usually advertising sea side excursions. Its a good 'un and like Stu, I think the steam really stands out...almost to 'wheres that come from !!!!!

It's a cracking shot, and definitely the safety valves blowing - the whistles being mounted between smokebox and deflector (chime), and on the front right of the cab (pipsqueak).

Good to see you are on the ball..........I hate to see people's IP (Intellectual Property) used by unscrupulous people. I'm not surprised the A1 Trust are well organised on this front. That really is a cracking, classic shot though

I like the shot a lot too. Unusual to get the steam looking like that, and the lighting is superb. I hope they don't crop it, the last coach is just in the picture, which to me is very important.

The discussion about licences etc is interesting to me. Is that how things are done here in the UK? I put a copyright note on my web pages, but also an encouragement for people who want them to ask me. My photos, (steam, mountain walks and now birds), are available to anyone to use to further the cause of steam etc. And sometimes to just those who like a shot I've taken, if they ask me. Even through sometimes, as happened recently, I spend some time making an old photo suitable for the recipient to print, and then don't even get an acknowledgement it has reached him when I send it. But I wouldn't for a moment contempate going through the fomalities of licences etc. I send an email with the image just saying they have my agreement to use it for whatever purpose etc they have asked for.

But it was in the UK that I encountered dreadful problems when putting my fast steam web pages together. Almost universal refusal to let me use photos of subjects here or overseas by UK photographers. Yet from the USA and Germany I couldn't have been helped more. One USA book publishing company even searched for the copyright of a photo they had published that I needed, and in the end when they couldn't trace it, sent me suitable wording to use under the photo! Typical of the help I received from those two countries.

Of course I don't include photographers here who make a living from selling piccies in my comments. That is a totally different situation and they have to protect their income flow.

Believe me IP is a minefield. I am personally going through patent applications here in the UK, European and the United States. My patent attorney is excellent, I could'nt have a better one. She works from home so her overheads are low and subsequently her fees are lower. I applied for the UK patent in Nov 2007 and it is still not granted. The problem is, you have to renew the application every year or it lapses.........which costs big bucks. I had occasion to visit a Patent Barrister two years ago on another matter regarding some other IP that had been hijacked. He also works from home but still charges £1k an hour, and I'm told that is cheap. Apparently in London they charge up to £4k/hr. I think I regard as what you are doing is less of a problem, and if I recall posting your photos to yourself can act as a record which is legal.

If someone were to find a picture they liked, and saved it to their computer for personal use only - where would they stand?
