I'm not going this year but have been for the past two years and can honestly say this is one of the most spectacular steam spectacles there is! Even in last years soggy weather we had great fun, the RHDR is not to be underestimated! Think a Great Central Railway gala timetable with about twice the number of locos over 40 scale miles at a scale 75mph...........:tongue1: Oh and there's triple heading too, and the parallel run:

(A taste of what you've been missing!)

I shall there both day's of the Gala Weekend, the 2009 Gala was probably my favourite one so far, i didn't get wet for a start and hearing Black Prince at Full Regulator and Full Forward gear on the parallel run was spectacular. Hopefully St Egwin can bring some decent weather down.

Best advice to anyone going is to start your journey at New Romney, the last two Gala weekend's the Parallel runs have started at New Romney at around 10:00, plus you get to see all the loco's being prepared for the day.

Timetables up for Saturday and Sunday. Be careful as the only parallel run leaves New Romney at 10.30 on SATURDAY so don't miss it!

I shall try to go as its only a few miles from me.

In previous years I've enjoyed watching 6 trains an hour go past - great fun. Also New Romney is a hive of activity - well worth the effort

Also, don't forget the Photo Special early on Sunday morning, too. The plan is to use "The Bug" on an authentic permanent way train on the Dungeness Branch, just as it was intended to do when first supplied to the line eighty years ago.

This charter special is being operated by NarrowGauge Net (who're launching their product over the weekend) - tickets are £8 each. Advance bookings for the charter are available through Iain McCall on 07770 748 615.

    Cheers,

    Phil.

Wouldn't it be 9:30 by any chance. I won't spoil the surprise of what loco's are running it though.

Unfortunately i cant get to New Romney in time to get on the Parallel run, but i shall attempt to film it between Dymchurch and Hythe.

So it is, even earlier than I thought! Why is it so early? Surely Saturday pm or Sunday am makes more sense. People coming from far away might not have arrived by then.

No idea why it is so early, a better idea would be to have one in the morning and one forming the last train to New Romney. I can understand why they avoid having one mid day during the intensive running, it can mean that people are waiting at station's for long periods of time.

    Hi all -

Gala details are below - distributed on behalf of a friend who is involved in the organisation of this event.

Don't forget the Sunday morning charter with "The Bug"; spaces still available at £8 each, from Iain McCall on 07770 748 615.

    Cheers,

    Phil.

Look's like this year we will be blessed with beautiful summer weather, unlike last year which was a complete washout. I'm just hopeful i can get a few good picture's, the last time i got a half decent picture was with the 2009 gala on the Sunday with the the sun only just putting in an apperance, 20 seconds later it was overcast.

Fantastic shots chap's, this weekend will defiantly take some beating, the weather could not have been better, just a shame Black Prince only managed 8 mile's solo. I'm currently having problem's with Window's Movie Maker processing my video from Sunday, but Saturday's footage should be up in the next hour or so.

Edit: Saturday's footage now available. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PcLC6o0Tjc
