GCR Autumn SRM Gala - 6/7/8/9 October

I spent an hour-or-so just hanging around Loughborough station this morning and pleased to report that it was really busy, plenty of action and all going to plan at that stage. Nine locos all up-an-running with passengers, freights, TPO drops etc.

Weather was dull and drizzling, so the photographers won't be happy, but at least there was no risk of lineside fires with 'Sir Lamiel' in action. (That's not a dig, by the way, just an attempt at gentle humour!).

Good to see the turntable in action at Quorn, though I understand a couple of teething problems with the heavier locos. I'm sure the engineering staff will get it sorted asap but there's no great rush.

Well done to all the the GCR for another great show and I hope the event is well-supported on Sunday.

I visited today. The weather wasn't great but all the trains looked very busy and the car park was full at Quorn so seemed to be a successful gala passenger wise. A couple of phots of the visitors here with a video to follow

thanks to all at the GCR for a great gala. One observation if I may, is that it would have been a good idea to open Butler Hendersons early instead of 10am.

Thanks for sharing but I'm a bit mystified. I may have had too many beers last night but the O4 seems to be facing both north and south. The Quorn departure at around 11:00 shows it facing north, then the Loughborough departure at around 13:00 shows it facing south but the very next sequence of it at Quorn on minerals shows it facing north again. Am I losing the plot?

Yes, it is at Quorn. Only recently been commissioned.

I spent a very long and rather damp day yesterday at the lineside.However that said it was worth it because the action was none stop all day long.Only the GCR can give us this many trains including proper freight trains and lots of smokebox first action.Well done to everyone,it was excellent.I too would echo previous comments about opening the cafe at Quorn earlier.My photographs taken on saturday can be found here http://steamgalore.zenfolio.com/p242622743
