    Hi Guys
There was a Bogie LPG Tank ESSO 78000 stored at Thingley Junction. This has disappeared in the last month. It was thought to be owned by the Bristol Industrial Museum. Can anyone confirm this & the tanks fate?
    Cheers
    Steve

    Ok Guys
A member of my Yahoo group visited BIM yesterday and asked about the tank...

"""I visited the BHR this afternoon and asked about the bogie tank wagon, known to them there as the 'Esso wagon'. The first person said, it was 'near Chippenham' and when I said it had gone from Thingley Junction - for scrap? he replied it could not have done as it was 'National Collection' and referred me to the person in charge.
We couldn't talk long as the train was just leaving, but he told me 'it was at Thingley Junction.'
When I said it wasn't he nearly fell of the loco! 'Gone?' he said. Who would know about it? I asked. 'No-one above me - thanks - very interesting. I shall have to look into it asap. At the very least we'd want to keep the bogies.'
    The plot thickens."""

This is a little odd. So the BIM still think its at Thingley, which it clearly isn't, missing about a month now. And theres a reference to the 'National Collection'.
Do you know anything about this Anthony?

78000 gifted to Bristol Harbour Railway on 5/10/84. Loaned to Stuart Eldridge for use by Mr. Kennedy. Despatched from BHR March 1995. Left to degrade at Thingley Junc. Any news on recent developments welcome.

I've not heard anything of this turning up anywhere. Its looking more likely this went for scrap but I hope I'm wrong. I'm pretty sure the others of this batch have now been disposed of from Fawley. The Avonmouth traffic connection would have made it a nice addition to the BHR even as a static exhibit.

Subject to confirmation, 78000 was delivered to EMR Kingsbury to a certain terminal fate. Any further info welcome.

So , given the vehicle was under loan is there some recompence due to the BHR for it's loss ?
